Position Summary
The company is seeking savvy CPG leaders. In this role the Head of Food will report directly to the US Head of Sales. He/she will play an instrumental role in overseeing the successful transition, and the establishment of the business. He/she will lead the commercial activity for all Grocery customers for North America. He/she will be responsible for leading sales initiatives and business development efforts within assigned customers, while providing marketplace and competitive intelligence to internal stakeholders. The Head of Food oversees account team activities, which include third-party organizations, to profitably deliver quota and business plan objectives within budget. The incumbent is responsible for leading innovative, best-in-class strategies to grow top line sales and market share by instituting customized business plans that are aligned with customer, and company, in both the short and long term. The Head of Food has a strong understanding of market place dynamics and leads the development of business plans that deliver incremental sales and share growth nationally, while being fiscally responsible and delivering company metrics. He/she is directly responsible for the talent and performance management of their assigned team including setting and evaluating third party partner goals, objectives and results.
Main Responsibilities
Delivers all assigned financial line objectives, primarily top and bottom-line sales and trade spend, within assigned area of responsibility.
Manages the activities of assigned team members/third party partners to ensure customer business plans are developed and executed successfully, modifying as needed to meet changing market conditions and delivering intended results.
Penetrates all levels of third party sales agents as well as customer organizations to optimize business relationships and results.
Leads strategic customer meetings and other senior-level interactions.
Develops and implements industry-leading strategy, both short and long-term, with senior decision makers for the customer and company.
Leads the development and delivery of innovative customer-specific strategies.
Leads the team’s annual business planning process for assigned customer(s).
Leads the forecasting process at the customer level and oversees the analysis and tracking of key metrics to ensure accuracy and identification of issues and opportunities.
Oversees and is responsible for the successful launch of new items into the customer organization.
Collaborates with account team and cross-functional partners to deliver on company/brand strategies and business results.
Responsible for setting annual objectives, goals and measures for third party partners; evaluating performance against results.
Works on annual third party partner annual contract terms and negotiations
Complies with company policies and procedures at all times.
About You
4-year degree in Business or related field required.
10+ years of consumer products experience, 5+ years in direct customer sales required.
Beauty care category and direct experience with drug and drug wholesale preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of consumer products industry, brand strategies, competitive products, classes of trade, and the ability to apply this knowledge to solve complex problems successfully.
Comprehensive knowledge of retail customer store operations, structure, strategy and retail execution tactics.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate the company strategy into customized customer plans.
Resolve competing priorities for the team and the customer relating to product group, category or brand.
Open and accessible leadership style, with the ability to consistently achieve positive results.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, complex, changing environment.
Ability to develop reporting staff to full potential and to build leaders for the future.
Proven track record of delivering results through others.
Ability to access information technology applications to improve current business environment.
Strong negotiating skills, with the ability to influence up one or more levels to include senior leaders across and through the customer organization.
Ability to create and transfer a selling strategy to address all market customers and channels with a long-term horizon of the future state of the business.
Proven ability to provide customized interpretations of industry and competitive data to enhance the ability to win in store and achieve outstanding business results.
Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite application.
