  TikTok's Content Strategy & Policy team sits within our Operations team. Its mission is to: serve as the connective tissue between key cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Product, Algo, Trust & Safety) and our Creator and Publisher pillars by providing analytics support, setting strategic direction, aligning Product prioritization, and developing editorial policies that scale across the TikTok Content. This team functionally represent the voices of our Creator and Publisher teams within cross-functional workstreams and works in close collaboration with the regional teams and Global User Operations.

  The Editorial Policy group will partner closely with Trust & Safety to develop responsible promotional policies and strategic content frameworks in sensitive categories (e.g., News, medical, financial) foster inclusivity, and promote fairness within our editorial practices while achieving our content diversification goals.

  Responsibilities:

  - Build and manage Editorial Policy team within Content Strategy & Policy

  - Develop deep understanding of sensitive categories on TikTok, and remain at the forefront of rapidly evolving market and regulatory landscapes, especially to provide thought leadership and situational support on behalf of Content Team for editorial practices on highly cross-functional workstreams involving Creators and Publishers (e.g., elections).

  - Manage and iterate our company's common, high-level Editorial Guidelines, and work with all lines of business to ensure that their respective promotional practices uphold these guidelines (i.e., playbook review, regular trainings)

  - Develop regular trainings and review processes for Content Teams to uphold Editorial Guidelines into promotional practices (e.g., heating, push), and collaborate with Global User Operations on content assurance workstreams.

  - Collaborate closely with Trust & Safety, Marketing, Product, GR, PR, and Legal to develop holistic content strategies for sensitive categories (e.g., trusted content partnerships, partner management support, monetization, product innovations), including consultation with external advisors as needed (e.g., Content Advisory Councils).

  - This is a role that requires superior communications skills and the ability to work across countries, continents and cultures. The ability to manage in a high level, cross-functional capacity is critical along with the experience of working with other cultures.

  Qualifications

  - Our ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in strategy, media, product, or policy, with managerial and leadership experience.

  - Proven track record of sound judgment in extremely complex and rapidly-evolving landscapes, and willingness to hear diverse points of view to productively find solutions to highly sensitive topics.

  - Demonstrated commitment to upholding key principles of our company, to ensure fairness and inclusivity on our platform.

  - Natural collaborator with an orientation towards open-mindedness and the ability to drive alignment among various stakeholders throughout the company to reach a common understanding.

  - Ability to incubate a strategy, optimize, and work with central Creator and Publisher pillars to operationalize at scale.

  - Understanding of key content business priorities (e.g., partner management metrics, product adoption)

  - Appreciation of local business dynamics, including intellectual curiosity to dive deeper into key issues/nuances versus accepting a cursory understanding of the marketplace.

  - Extraordinary organizational skills with the ability to work cross functionally with other stakeholder teams as well as senior leadership.

  - The ability to meet deadlines and drive strong execution in a fast-paced, startup environment.

  - Exemplary interpersonal, analytical and communications skills.

  - BS required, MS/MA/MBA considered a plus.

  Job Information

  [For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

  The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $155610 - $291840 annually.

  Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

  We cover 100% premium coverage for employee medical insurance, approximately 75% premium coverage for dependents and offer a Health Savings Account(HSA) with a company match. As well as Dental, Vision, Short/Long term Disability, Basic Life, Voluntary Life and AD&D insurance plans. In addition to Flexible Spending Account(FSA) Options like Health Care, Limited Purpose and Dependent Care.

  Our time off and leave plans are: 10 paid holidays per year plus 17 days of Paid Personal Time Off (PPTO) (prorated upon hire and increased by tenure) and 10 paid sick days per year as well as 12 weeks of paid Parental leave and 8 weeks of paid Supplemental Disability.

  We also provide generous benefits like mental and emotional health benefits through our EAP and Lyra. A 401K company match, gym and cellphone service reimbursements. The Company reserves the right to modify or change these benefits programs at any time, with or without notice.
