Context/Scope:
Corporate Security sits within the Group Legal.Corporate Security's mission is to protect Diageo's people, assets, reputation and future development through setting policies and standards and monitoring their implementation, by providing decision makers with forward looking risk insight and analysis, and by providing expert guidance and services, including investigations, to the business.This is a position only built 3 years ago and leads the Corporate Security function within the North American region (US, Canada, USVI).
Market/Functional Complexity:
The role holder will own the management of the full range of Corporate Security programs including People Security, Physical Security, Crisis Management, Business Continuity, and Investigations.They will implement and lead these programs across the Market, incorporating all national jurisdictions and taking into account relevant local laws, regulations, standards and customs, and covering all Diageo locations and functions, including supply and demand sites, visitors’ centers, and the supply chain.Close stake-holder relationships with members of the NAM Executive and Market leads for Business Integrity, CR, HR, Supply, CRES and others.Advise senior Market leadership on risks and attend the Market Risk Management Committee.Own and lead Market engagement/relationships with government entities, e.g. Law Enforcement, State Department, Department of Homeland Security.
Leadership Responsibilities:
Provide proactive, effective leadership for the full Corporate Security agenda in Market. Through matrix management engage and coordinate market colleagues to meet CS policy requirements.Provide quality risk advisory to market leadership and other members of the marketVisibility - build engagement with market employees to increase awareness of security risk and security programs.Support global CS team as required on above-market projects and be an active member of the global CS community.
Purpose of Role:
To deliver and maintain Market-wide Security & BCM programs and plans in compliance with Diageo global policies/standards.To ensure all sites understand and meet the minimum requirements for security and that key staff are aware of relevant standard methodologies and a suitable assurance process is implemented.Deliver security training and awareness for employees and providing professional security advice and consultation to senior management.Management of the CTPAT program to ensure annual accreditation is maintained.Conduct of internal investigations, in line with the Diageo Breach Management Standard, as required.Support the delivery of the Brand Protection agenda in Market as required.Lead incident and crisis management for the Market.Establish and maintain close liaison with relevant law enforcement and government officials.
Top 3-5 Accountabilities:
Ensuring global security/BCM policies/requirements are met across Market, via the formulation and delivery of market-wide security/BCM programs/plans.Delivering security awareness training for employees and providing risk advisory to the market leadership team.Building and maintaining effective relationships with government agencies.Effective incident/crisis leadership/coordination.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Prior experience in law enforcement, military, government security/intelligence or corporate security required. Previous corporate national/regional security lead experience preferable.Professional security qualifications, e.g. CPP or equivalent, preferable.Experience and knowledge of Business Continuity Management required; professional qualification, e.g. MBCI, preferable.Strong integrity.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Good written (English) skills to prepare documentation for corporate leadership or governmental agencies.Ability to stay focused by constantly reassessing priorities and handling expectations within the business.Ability to work expertly, persuasively and to gain the respect and trust of other senior managers.

Lack of personal drive and pro-activeness.Weak interpersonal skills (Diageo works though knowing the right people, not through operating processes)Inability to constantly prioritize and handle expectations from a large and fast paced business.Inability to act confidentially and discreetly.
