Hardware Research Scientist Responsibilities:
Design and implement metrology systems for optical characterization
Optimization of optical designs by using machine learning techniques
Develop test strategies for optical sensing systems
Coordinate with vendors to prototype lens designs
Lead hardware calibration efforts of optical systems in collaboration with cross-functional partners
Model optical transmission, coating performance, and stray light analysis of both individual components, optical assemblies, and full optical systems using a combination of sequential and non-sequential methods
Model, analyze, and develop tolerances for optical distortions in both static and dynamic systems
Salary: $172,435.00 - $194,000.00 + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual pay within the stated range is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. PhD degree in Engineering, Optics, Physics, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field. Completion of a graduate-level course, research project, or internship involving the following:
Algorithms, data structures, or systems software
Solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
Gathering, manipulating, or analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
Communicating complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
Developing highly scalable classifiers and tools leveraging machine learning, statistics, regression, rules-based models, or mathematical models
Java, C++, Perl, PHP, or Python
Ray tracing software including Zemax and Code V, and wave-based optics including FDTD and RCWA
