We are seeking a Trainee Development HR Specialist (Graduate Development (HR) Specialist) to join our London office. Working closely with the Graduate Development (HR) Manager, the individual coming into this position will sit within the Graduate Resourcing and Development team under the Global HR function.
About you
This role is suited to a high calibre individual who is seeking to take responsibility of providing HR support to the Firm's current and future trainees during their training contract.
In this role you will
HR & Development of Current Trainees Assist with all trainee-related employee relations matters in conjunction with Graduate Development (HR) Manager; Build strong relationships with trainee partners and supervisors to ensure an active role is played in headcount management and trainee performance-related matters. Run the seat rotation process for trainee solicitors every six months. Assist the Graduate Development (HR) Manager with the qualification process for trainee solicitors every six months, ensuring trainee preferences are balanced with business needs. Promote and develop the evaluation process four times per year for trainee solicitors including mid and end-of-seat reviews. Review all evaluations and follow up with supervisors, trainees and trainee partners as necessary. Meet with trainees every six months to discuss performance and qualification aspirations. Ensure all provisions of financial assistance for future trainees at law school are made. Liaise with the Solicitors Regulation Authority on matters relating to trainee solicitors and ensure the Firmis meeting its regulatory obligations. Trainee Overseas Seat Programme Alongside the Global Mobility Manager and Graduate Development (HR) Manager, run the trainee overseas seat programme, including working with HR Managers in local offices regarding practice group availability and the terms and conditions of the placements. Assist with the performance management process of overseas trainees; and oversee the coordination of language lessons, health insurance, tax and visas. Future Trainees Assist with all future trainee-related employee relations matters in conjunction with Graduate Development (HR) Manager. Maintain regular contact with future trainees; and monitor performance during SQE and PDGL programmes. Manage the organisation of the new trainee induction programme; and organise welcome events. Organise work permits for new trainees as required. Other Conduct regular feedback meetings with trainees and communicate outcomes with trainee partners. Provide trainee development updates to London Graduate Resourcing Partner Committee. Oversee coordination of the future trainee events. Present sessions on the training programme during open days, vacation schemes and the new trainee induction. Conduct vacation scheme interviews when additional resource is required. Attend university law fairs, presentations and skills sessions when additional resource is required. Undertake any project work as and when required.
You are a good fit if you are
CIPD qualified and degree educated (highly desirable). Skilled HR professional with experience handling Employee Relations and overseeing the intake and management of a graduate population, ideally within the legal sector. Experienced in influencing decision making processes and taking the lead. Able to manage diverse stakeholders and build networks quickly. Results-orientated; able to handle multiple, time-sensitive projects while focusing on the quality of work delivered. A ble to work in a pro-active manner and handle pressured situations calmly and with care.
Location & Reporting
This role is based in our London office. Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week. This role reports to the Graduate Development (HR) Manager
