The Public Policy & Government Affairs team's work spans across government affairs and government relations; a broad range of policy areas; risk and crisis management; outreach and coalition building; industry partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the team is to prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.
We are looking for a passionate, ambitious professional to join our team to help us build trust and familiarity between TikTok and existing and emerging political stakeholders in the UK.
In this role, you will:
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers and other stakeholders in the UK, with a particular focus on developing relationships with opposition parties, in order to represent TikTok's mission, values and principles;
- Identify, monitor, and analyse relevant policy trends, legislative proposals, and issues of importance to the company;
- Articulate our policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses, and internal policy meetings;
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders such as legal, communications, and the policy team on public policy matters to help guide the development of products, services, and policies;
- Execute strategies for engaging with policymakers around issues important to TikTok and our community of creators;
- Establish meaningful relationships with aligned political groups, such as Think Tanks, Affiliated Bodies, industry associations, partners, and NGOs.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience of public policy and / or government relations and advocacy work;
- Very strong understanding of the UK political system, environment and institutions, in particular of opposition parties;
- Very strong network with policymakers and opinion leaders;
- A keen understanding of public policy issues facing TikTok, including online safety, misinformation and data protection.
- Previous experience in Parliament, a Party Headquarters or other political roles is desirable.
- The ability to work in a dynamic environment and ability to deliver measurable impact;
- Superb written and oral communication skills
