Wolfspeed is seeking a Global Facilities Life Safety Systems Design Engineer to join the Global Facilities Team (GFET).
This person will be responsible to provide high quality engineering services and specifications for the planning, design, construction, Start-up and Commissioning of your discipline specific Facilities systems in support of Semiconductor Device and Materials manufacturing across the Wolfspeed Global Manufacturing Network. This person must have Subject Matter Expert knowledge of Fire Detection and Suppression, and Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems to achieve code compliance, deploy industry best practices, and help keep colleagues safe. This position will have oversight for the development of the physical layout of equipment, protection and control logic, and wiring diagrams and be responsible for specification and procurement of engineered equipment, as well as development of design scope and cost estimates.
The Day-to-Day
Evaluates and enhances fire, life safety and TGM systems to ensure readiness and compliance.
Serves as the technical expert for fire and life safety issues, leads commissioning, troubleshooting and risk assessments.
Develops and maintains site life safety system maintenance records, inspection reports and procedures. Provides direction to maintenance staff during preventative maintenance activities.
Coordinates with vendors as needed to perform preventive maintenance on life safety equipment.
Assists local officials with routine testing of fire and life safety systems. Ensures the life safety system is in compliance with all local and federal regulations and NFPA codes.
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related discipline
Relevant industry certifications from NFPA, NICET, or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years’ experience maintaining life safety systems in a semiconductor manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience in facility/plant engineering and fire life safety equipment (FAS, FPS, HPM, TGM, Leak Detection).
Knowledge & application of Codes and Standards, as they pertain to Life Safety NFPA 1 Fire Code: NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements / NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code: NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code, ICC, IBC and IFC.
Willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
