Job Overview
The Global Product Environmental Compliance (PEC) Engineer is responsible for deploying company-wide initiatives which support TE Connectivity business units (“TE”) with all aspects of ensuring product environmental compliance. The role includes monitoring and assessing evolving laws and regulations, communicating the business impact to TE stakeholders, and maintaining the integrity and quality of the product environmental compliance program through continuous improvement activities. The Global PEC Engineer is required to understand the business impact of new or changing legislation and proactively develop processes, systems and tools that will enable the company to comply with them.
The Global PEC Engineer is a member of the Corporate Product Environmental Compliance team and reports to the Global Director of Product Environmental Compliance. The Global PEC Engineer works closely with Business Unit Compliance Leads, TE Information Systems (TEIS), Procurement, Legal, BU Sustainability Managers, EH&S and others internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain world class compliance management processes, systems and tools. The position requires an experienced professional with a broad understanding of the global environmental compliance landscape along with demonstrated experience in tracking regulatory developments and evaluating and communicating the impact of these to stakeholders across the business.
Responsibilities and requierements:
Collaborate with TE stakeholders from Procurement, TEIS, Legal, EH&S, Global Governmental Affairs, along with Business Unit engineering, compliance and sustainability leaders as needed to develop and maintain a cohesive global compliance program on behalf of TE and supporting customer expectations.
Monitor global product environmental compliance regulations impacting the electronics industry and evaluate and communicate impact to TE stakeholders.
Develop/maintain and deploy policies, specifications,processes, and procedures to secure a robust product environmental compliance management system across TE.
Work closely with TEIS to optimize environmental compliance system infrastructure and tools.
Drive activities that proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks across the enterprise.
Enable best practice sharing, foster continuous improvement activities.
Develop and train TE colleagues on topics related to product environmental compliance.
Expertise:
Experienced subject matter expert in global product environmental compliance regulations impacting the electronics industry ( e.g. , ROHS, REACH, TSCA, Prop65, WEEE, etc.).
Strong understanding of current and future ESG trends and how these impact products. For example, knowledge of the emerging product requirements related to eco-design, circularity and digital product passport is an advantage.
Demonstrated experience working with and developing product compliance data collection and management systems ( e.g., 3rd party data collection systems: Assent, IMDS, BOMcheck, etc., as well as internal PEC data management systems).
Strong process development and continuous improvement mind-set.
Effective communication skills (written and verbal).

Demonstrated business acumen applicable to a global electronics company including an understanding of the Product Development life-cycle process.

Qualifications:
University degree: Engineering, Natural Sciences, EH&S or similar.
10+ years progressive global compliance experience supporting business units/segments.
