  Essential Duties/Responsibilities :

  Audits safety programs at all manufacturing facilities to ensure alignment with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations. Develops action plans, in cooperation with local facility managers, to improve programs, prevent/reduce injury related costs, and minimize corporate liabilities.

  Communicates corporate safety, health and environmental directives and initiatives to regional and international facilities. Ensures individual facility programs are in alignment with corporate safety, health and environmental directives.

  Maintains a corporate wide safety performance reporting system and provides reports/presentations to facility and corporate managers, as a means of detailing and monitoring current safety performance. Conducts comprehensive analytical loss studies to identify areas affecting frequency and severity rates at all facilities.

  Integrates new acquisitions into the corporate safety culture, to ensure all GT facilities meet and comply with corporate safety standards and directives.

  Prepares jointly, with management teams at corporate headquarters, regional, and international facilities, appropriate responses to regulatory inquiries and inspections.

  Assists regional US facilities with the resolution of workers’ compensation claims, to minimize costs and future corporate liabilities. Conducts regular claim reviews to ensure the effectiveness of the program. Liaisons with regional US facility management to ensure that return to work programs are effectively utilized to reduce worker’s compensation costs.

  Serves as the primary corporate contact for workers’ compensation insurance carrier issues and disputes. Establishes guidelines for insurance company loss control audits at US facilities.

  Assists regional and international safety professionals with the implementation of applicable safety, health, and environmental programs. Visits US regional sites regularly to assist with safety and environmental programs. Conducts program audits to ensure programs align with regulatory requirements and corporate safety, health and environmental directives. Visits international sites as necessary.

  Facilitates industrial hygiene studies, interprets results, and provides reports as necessary to ensure that healthy work environments exist at all GT facilities. Directs programs aimed at mitigating hazards that are revealed by industrial hygiene studies.

  Manages environmental programs at the corporate headquarters location, including associated recordkeeping, and assists with environmental programs at regional facilities, including environmental permitting, hazardous and special handling waste programs, and pollution prevention programs.

  Reviews and assists with emergency response plans at all facilities, including life safety/ fire protection programs and emergency evacuation plans.

  Conducts company-union safety tours at the corporate headquarters location, determines solutions to safety tour items, and monitors corrective actions to ensure timely response. Coordinates and maintains an internal safety program, including safety committees, injury management, and associated reporting at the corporate headquarters location.

  Ensures the development of Material Safety Data Sheets for Greene Tweed manufactured products, including responding to customer requests for safety information concerning Greene Tweed products. Maintains a database of existing Material Safety Data Sheets for quick response to customer requests.

  Recommends educational resources and assists with the professional development of Safety Coordinators/Assistants at all facilities, to improve the problem resolution capabilities of local safety management.

  Monitors compliance with Radiation Safety regulations in facilities where potential radiological hazards exist.

  Assesses safety, health and environmental risks of new manufacturing processes to ensure new processes are performed safely and in compliance with applicable environmental regulations.

  Manages the safety budget at the Kulpsville manufacturing site, to ensure that appropriate personal protective and safety equipment is available as needed to prevent injuries and provide for a safe and healthy work environment.

  Required Minimum Qualifications

  Education/Certifications: Education: BS/BA in appropriate science required.

  License, certification, or testing required: Professional certification in a related discipline (CWCP, CSP, or CIH) is a plus

  Skills and Experience:

  10+ years of safety and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a union manufacturing environment is a plus.

  This position requires an individual with international safety and environmental experience. Technical aptitude and communication skills are essential. Management experience in a union environment is a plus. This position requires an individual who is self-directed and can work successfully with minimal supervision

  The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting and any applicable collective bargaining agreements. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
