Position Summary
This is a 4-6 month co-op opportunity for a 3rd year student in a college or university that is studying EnviromentaI or Industrial Engineering. This position will start in either March or May 2024.
As part of the PNRQ business unit the internship position will report to the Regional Manager. Over a 6-month maximum duration the intern will have to complete an analysis and study which will position the company on the scale of GHG emissions and which will suggest tools and policies to improve the company environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Part A:
Review, understand and summarize the environmental and industrial regulations with regards to GHG emissions (federal and provincial)
Review, understand and summarize the federal and provincial objectives with regards to GHG emissions reductions
Overall
Specific to the construction industry
Associated schedule
Part B:
Identify all sources of GHG pertaining to PNRQ and PNR Railworks activities
Quantify the GHG emissions by PNRQ and PNR Railworks
Establish the $ value associated to the source of GHG emissions for PNRQ and PNR Railworks
Part C:
Identify all opportunities to reduce GHG emissions for PNRQ and PNR Railworks
Establish a realistic reduction target and associated schedule in conformance with the federal and provincial objectives
Establish associated cost to follow the above plan
Establish potential cost for not confirming to federal and provincial targets - including government $ penalties, disqualification on public/private business opportunities
Establish middle/long term savings and business opportunities associated to the GHG reduction plan for PNRQ and PNR Railworks
Required Skills and Qualifications
3rd year student in industrial environment engineering
Personal interest in global warming concerns/solutions and sustainable development
French speaking with an English proficiency level
Natural organizational skills
Natural social skills and team player
