Verdantas is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer I . This position will be located at our San Diego, CA Office.
Responsibilities:
Perform specific geotechnical engineering calculations, including foundation bearing capacity, slope stability, and liquefaction analysis
Conduct field exploration and create logs for test borings/pits with soil descriptions
Coordinate and perform quality control testing during grading using a nuclear gauge
Perform subsurface investigations for residential, commercial, and public works projects
Complete laboratory soil testing work
Review grading and foundation plans for conformance
Perform or supervise field technician work
Prepare design requirements, technical reports, and proposals
Follow company policies and procedures and all safety procedures
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, in Geotechnical Engineering M.S. preferred
1 to 3 years experience
Engineering in Training (EI) Certification Completed
Proficiency with Microsoft Office®
Ability to analyze data/reports, geotechnical field situations, and conditions
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical instructions, and procedural manuals
Effective technical writing, strong communication, and time management skills
Must have a valid Driver’s License
Must be able to pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical, and background check
