Cuyuna Regional Medical Center * General Surgery Crosby, MN Professional Patient Care Full Time, 10-hour Day Shift FTE: 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) Weekend Requirements: No weekends Posted 08/18/2023 Req # 12530 POSITION SUMMARY CRMC is seeking to hire an NP or PA to join our general surgery team. This position will support one of our four surgeons in all aspects of general surgery including inpatient care, first or second assist in the OR, and clinic consults and follow up visits. CRMC's general surgery group is a distinguished practice encompassing The Minnesota Heartburn and Reflux Center, CRMC Bariatric Center of Excellence, Robotic Center of Excellence, and the Hernia Specialists of Minnesota. Currently two APPs work in this role and we are looking to add two more. CRMC is a critical access hospital with eight operating room suites, two of which are robotic rooms with a DaVinci XI robot, and three endoscopy suites. We have multiple surgical and non-surgical specialties and a robust hospitalist team to serve our patients. This position typically spends 45% of their time in the OR, 45% in clinic, and 10% on inpatient care. You will be responsible for performing general surgery consults for new clinic, ER, and med/surg patients. You will assess and manage post op patients on the med/surg floor and in clinic in collaboration with the primary surgeon. You will work closely with the clinic, hospitalist, OR and PACU teams throughout the course of the patient's care. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: If Nurse Practitioner, must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program. If Physician Assistant, bachelor's degree and successful completion of an accredited physician assistant program required. Operating Room experience as a surgical tech, circulating nurse or first/second assist is preferred but willing to train a motivated and ambitious candidate. License/Certificates: National certification from the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. State PA license required OR Current Minnesota registered nurse license with APRN certification with prescriptive authority. Will need to obtain DEA and ACLS or CALS if not already done. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES First or second assist for open, laparoscopic, and robotic general surgery cases Assist with documentation, orders, and patient education for endoscopic procedures Responsible for inpatient rounds on a rotational basis with the other APPs on the team Order appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., imaging, labs, etc.) for hospital and clinic patients Complete all documentation timely, efficiently and in its entirety in compliance with Meaningful Use for hospital and clinic patients Full time position with typically four 10-hour days but may vary depending on case load so flexibility in daily schedule is required Initiate referrals as appropriate consulting with supervising physician Accurately complete all patient notes within 48 hours and forward completed documentation to supervising provider for signature Assist supervising provider with completion of their tasks and assist with paperwork and forms as directed by the physician Cuyuna Regional Medical Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
