Performs semi-skilled jobs in a variety of trades, including but not limited to maintaining, repairing, and providing custodial services as assigned for the building, academic programs, and other college departments to ensure a clean, orderly, secure and welcoming environment for those in the building, as well as, ensure proper functioning of the campus.
Specific Duties include:
Remodel offices, classrooms, shops, etc. Includes sheet rocking, plastering, cutting and installing doors and windows, painting, masonry work, building handicap ramps, patching carpet and vinyl, and installation of cabinets, blackboards, bulletin boards, TV monitors, projectors and screens
Daily cleaning - clean shop sinks, vacuum offices and shop mats, and empty trash.
Event set up and tear down
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. Find innovative ways to promote a clean, orderly, secure and welcoming environment for those in the building.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to assist licensed trades workers and to repair machinery, equipment, and facilities in a timely and safe manner.
Knowledge of general methods and practices of custodial duties, cleaning chemicals, equipment, tools, and supplies.
Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools.
Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Communication skills needed to report status of building security and repairs to supervisor
Preferred Qualifications
A Boiler’s License
Ability to operate forklift.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
Adequate skills to operate the facility energy management system and preventative maintenance program.
Knowledge of emergency procedures such as fire, tornadoes, bomb threats, etc
Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
