Description: Function:
Build up and rework a group of sub-assemblies, accessories and related parts, and/or assist on complete build up and rework gear boxes and other similar assemblies.
Typical Responsibilities:
Work from ordinary drawings, established procedures, check sheets and other oral or written detailed instructions to perform assembly, disassembly, fitting and rework operations.
Assemble parts to build complete sub-assemblies such as input, clutch, upper and lower housings, etc., and install various accessories on gear box such as generators, servo units, hydraulic units, spacers and tubing, etc.
See that component parts such as bearings, bushings etc., are properly fitted and aligned.
Press fit bushings, liners and other parts, heating and freezing mating details as specified.
Tighten all studs and nuts to proper torque and safety wire.
Use proper nuts, bolts, shims, and pacers as required meeting specifications.
Use power and hand tools to drill, ream, tap, burr, lap, file, polish, change studs, insert helicoils, etc., as required for assembly and rework operations.
Check work to assure quality standards are maintained.
Repair oil leaks found or noted by Quality Assurance.
Use a variety of precision measuring instruments and gages such as plug, depth and feeler gages, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.
Assist in tear-down of gear boxes and perform other related work as directed.
Maintain all related records and other paperwork.
Refer difficulties to higher grade mechanic, Working Leader or Supervisor.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
