First Student is now hiring a Gas and Diesel Mechanic for our shop serving the Springfield School District! Full medical, vision, and dental services are included with the Union!

2nd shift has a $.50 per hour differential.

About the Gas and Diesel Mechanic Position
As a Gas and Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will help maintain and repair 2013-2017 Freightliner Saf-T-Liner C2, 2020 Thomas MVP-EF (Flat nose), 2010 Dodge Caravans, 2011-2017 Chevrolet Express 3500 (Minibus) Gas and Diesel, 2006 Ford F250 pickup Diesel, 2008 E450 Diesel, Shop power equipment (Lawn mower, Weed Wacker, Hedge trimmer, Snowblower) equipment and school buses to ensure vehicle readiness & safety. Other major job duties include:
Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions.
Ensure work orders are completed accurately.
Assist with mobile emergency services.
Gas and Diesel Technician Qualifications
Valid CDL license required; we will train you to get the School Bus and Air Brake endorsement
At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education
Possess a mechanic’s tool set
Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses are provided!
