  We are looking for a Foundation Director and Education Lead to join the Atlassian Foundation leadership team and meaningfully advance our progress towards our mission and goals.

  To ensure sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we can hire eligible candidates for this role from the West Coast of the United States and the East Coast of Australia.

  Compensation

  At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

  Zone A: $134,700 - $179,600

  Zone B: $121,200 - $161,600

  Zone C: $111,800 - $149,000

  This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

  The Foundation Director and Education Lead is responsible for shaping our global education grant-making strategy, leading a team of partnership managers, identifying and cultivating partnerships that advance our strategy, overseeing and supporting the monitoring & evaluation of our existing grant portfolio, and bringing the unique combination of Atlassian's funding, people (volunteering), and products & practices to advance the work of our partners.

  Reporting to the Head of Foundation, this role will will lead our Education unit which includes 3 Partnership Managers/Specialists dedicated to driving the success and impact of our global education partners. This is a globally distributed unit with members based in San Francisco (AMER portfolio), Bengaluru (India portfolio), and Manila (APAC portfolio), respectively.

  As part of the Foundation's Leadership group, you will have joint responsibility for delivering on the Foundation's mission and goals; helping to shape the overall strategy, programs, and operational priorities of the Foundation; co-developing cross-foundation OKRs; and enabling cross-unit coordination and collaboration in support of the Foundation's mission and goals (mobilising Education unit team members for the entire organisation).

  Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  Developing and driving education focused initiatives that align with the Foundation's mission and strategy. Surprise us with your ideas and innovations!Contributing to all Foundation leadership group responsibilities, including strategic decision-making and overall team leadershipOverseeing processes for funded partnerships in the Foundation's global education portfolio. This includes identifying/sourcing new grant-making opportunities from networks; conducting due diligence on prospective grantee partners; analysing and assessing institutional strengths and limitations of grantee and prospective grantee organisations; developing, reviewing and providing feedback for grant proposals; conducting negotiations and development of grant terms; preparing collaboration agreements; preparing clear, concise and insightful written analyses; presenting recommendations for funding to the Board and preparing updates for the Board that summarise key activities, progress and issues relating to the grant portfolio.Monitoring the global education portfolio and maintaining contact with grantees' most senior leadership; staying abreast of grantee program progress; supporting grantees where requested (e.g. by providing insight, connections or facilitating employee volunteering opportunities); and working closely with grantees to develop and modify strategies that effectively use available resources while fulfilling program goalsDriving the long-term impact of the Atlassian Foundation - both by leading the Education unit and partnerships, and by being an active member of the overall leadership of the Atlassian FoundationGuiding, managing, motivating and inspiring the Foundation's team to work to the highest standards of excellence and grow professionally; and providing opportunities for team members to be satisfied and challenged by their jobsOverseeing monitoring & evaluation and annual reporting for the Global Education portfolio - with support from Educate unit membersIn conjunction with a Monitoring & Evaluation lead to be recruited, leading the analysis/synthesis of information collected from partners, developing and overseeing a systematic approach to reporting back to Atlassian on impact that enables sharing of results and learnings internally as well as externally, and applying learning theory for course-correction and future directionsRepresent the Atlassian Foundation externally, and bring the best of Atlassian to our global education partners.Serve as a trusted partner to the Atlassian Foundation Board of Directors.

  On your first day, you will bring:

  10+ years of experience, including leadership roles in philanthropy, global education, international development, or the nonprofit sector.A keen eye for detail and a strong desire to uphold high standards of excellenceEvidence of a career built on a "We", not "I" mentalityA bias for action and GSD (Get Shit Done) attitude and track recordA truly self-motivated desire to constantly learn, develop and grow in the roleA track record of "being the change you seek"A problem solver mindset; willing to adapt when necessary; comfortable with ambiguityStrong analytical, writing and verbal skills for communicating with a broad and diverse audience. An ability to communicate well with stakeholders from all across the business at many different levels, and enjoy it!A high level of comfort working with remote/hybrid teams and the ability to work with an eclectic mix of geographically dispersed stakeholders; willing to coordinate among different global time zones and be available for regular early morning or late evening callsAn understanding of global educational systems and challenges faced by marginalised communitiesA proven track record in developing successful partnerships with diverse stakeholdersAn understanding of international development, global education, how non-profits operate and/or grant-making practices and approachesA demonstrated passion for social impact, with nonprofit experience and international experience preferredExperience leading others in a direct reporting relationship and creating successful coaching and development environments for team membersExperience developing and operationalising strategies that have taken programs or organisations to the next stage of growth/impact

  It's a bonus if you:

  Have an interest in innovative financing for education and/or a track record in the financing for development field and, more specifically, mobilising private capital and/or partnerships between the public and private sectorHave lived experience of education systems in low and/or lower-middle income countriesHave experience working with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Trello, Atlas, Loom etc)
