BASF's Professional & Specialty Solutions (P&SS) business at BASF's facility in Research Triangle Park (RTP) is seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic individual interested in a career in Formulation chemistry. As a Formulation Lab Chemist and member of P&SS, you will provide your expertise pertaining to analytical and physical chemistry with a goal of supporting method development, formulation optimization, and formulation development.
As a Formulation Lab Chemist, You Create Chemistry By...
Organizing, scheduling, and executing projects in accordance with business priorities, as an individual contributor,
Using your in-depth knowledge of physical and analytical chemistry, you will develop, preform, and validate non-GLP methods for the quantitative analysis of active ingredients, and other physical chemistry techniques (HPLC, GC, pH, viscosity, density, particle size) to qualify new formulation inserts, new formulations, and for support of formulation optimization for development work
By providing sample test and analysis to support production sites, you will lead investigations into out-of-specification products (Non-Conformance management, specification updates, or general inquiries)
Performing analysis of ongoing lab-made formulations in the development of new formulation development work
Documenting results in the form of reports or by updating existing documents such as specifications, FMMs, Group A reports, or notebook entries.
Leading the storage stability program to develop a full profile (analytical and physical testing) of products to including all testing (physical and analytical) to determine product stability.
If you...
PhD in a scientific discipline (such as chemistry or biology) with 0 years’ experience; -OR- MS with 2 years industrial experience; -OR- BS with 4 years industrial experience.
Chemistry background with manufacturing or R&D experience.
Experience with spectroscopy (HPLC and GCs) and physical chemistry techniques with solid understanding of chromatographic principles; Ability to trouble shoot equipment is a plus.
Serious safety focus, attention to detail, and decision-making skills.
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Strong technical and process troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Willingness to travel within the US - anticipation is a few times a year
