The Major League Baseball Former Player Internship program introduces former Major and Minor League players to the business of baseball as they transition out of a playing role. It provides former players with the opportunity to gain work and project management experience in a Baseball Operations role at the Office of the Commissioner in NYC.
Former players may participate in internships hosted in one or more of the following Baseball Operations departments at the Commissioner’s Office, including, but not limited to:
On-Field Ops On-Field Strategy Transactions Draft/Medical/International Operations Umpire Operations Player Programs Minor League Operations Baseball Economics Replay

Major and Minor League free agents or retired players who have not played affiliated baseball for two years or less Bachelor’s degree or in-progress Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Knowledgeable about current MLB events – both on and off the field The internship will span over the course of 3-4 months (September – December 2023).
Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is an hourly rate of $20.00 to $23.00. The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
