Explore, find inspiration, andtake action at massaudubon.org. About This Position About This PositionMass Audubon is seeking a Forest Ecologist to help achieve MassAudubon?s forest resiliency goals. Mass Audubon?s Action Agenda callsfor restoring and enhancing the management of 200,000 acres of publicand private forestland in Massachusetts by 2026. The Forest Ecologistwill work with the project team to develop and deploy climate-smartforest management programs to support carbon storage and climateadaptation on private and municipal lands. This is a full-time,year-round position through July 31, 2025. There is an opportunity forthe term of this position to extend based on future strategy and fundingopportunities. Responsibilities: Collaborate withConservation Science staff to develop and implement forest conservationprograms in response to priorities identified in strategic plans,department plans, and annual work plans Work with the Climate-SmartForestry team to complete grant deliverables on time Communicate goalsof the program, findings, and recommendations in writing and throughpresentations to landowners, foresters, and the public Interact withlocal/state/federal agency, academic, and nonprofit partners on regionalforest conservation issues, and in collaboration with internal andexternal scientists Work with Mass Audubon colleagues including SeniorConservation Ecologists and Regional Directors to demonstrateclimate-smart forest management on wildlife sanctuaries Pursue newfunding opportunities and assist in management of relevant aspects ofproject budgets and contracts Perform research-related tasks includingliterature reviews, computer data analysis including GIS, and occasionalfield work Contribute to hiring and supervision of seasonal assistants,interns and volunteers Pursue relevant training, remain current inaspects of forest conservation, and contribute scientific expertise toresearch projects Qualifications At Mass Audubon, our highest priorityis finding the best candidate for the job.
