　　The Military Department at the State of Vermont is seeking an armedcivilian Force Protection Officer (FPO) supporting the Air NationalGuard Security Forces Squadron at the Burlington Air National GuardBase. This position is responsible for securing and safeguardingmilitary aircraft, hangers and other specialized buildings, controlledareas, explosives, and ammunition against attack, sabotage, espionage,damage, or loss. The FPO will control the entry of military and civilianpersonnel, contractors, VIPs, and visitors to the Base, flight line, andother restricted areas. Additionally, the FPO will provide limitedmilitary law enforcement services and may work in a military 911dispatch center.

　　This position may work rotating shifts for 8 1/2 hours per day.Candidates should have experience in the military, security, or lawenforcement and be able to work long periods alone during night hoursand inclement weather. Please contact for more information about thisposition.

　　Environmental Factors

　　Incumbents will be expected to work night and weekend shifts, safelyoperate around moving aircraft, work in restricted areas, be exposed tosensitive classified information, and be frequently alone in adverseweather conditions, all while wearing heavy equipment. Integrity,honesty, and tact are critical in dealing with VIPs, installationmilitary and civilian employees, guests, and the general public. Someexposure to dangerous situations is occasionally encountered. Incumbentsare expected to carry firearms. Must wear a uniform and body armor.
