The Integrated Oncology division of LabCorp performs immunophenotyping by Flow Cytometry testing for Leukemia and Lymphoma diagnosis.
The work schedule for this position will be 3rd Shift (Monday-Friday 10pm-6:30am). You will receive a shift differential for working 3rd shift! There may be occasional overtime available (optional)
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs daily worksheet preparation. This includes researching, reviewing for previous results and looking for potential duplicate specimens.
Using lab computer systems to track and pull patient samples for downstream testing (would require limited handling of sealed tubes containing whole blood, bone marrow and/or tissues).
Corresponding with other laboratory support groups to resolve client inquiries and concerns.
Communicating with Client Services to provide notification or delays in testing and/or gather missing information critical to testing.
Reviewing test orders prior to specimen processing to ensure sample type is appropriate and all necessary information is included.
Investigating and resolving problem samples, information request and specimen requests from other departments.
Performing specimen, slide and document pick-up and delivery to requesting departments.
Assisting laboratory staff with monitoring and handling laboratory supply inventory.
Scan worksheets and related documentation to the Flow Analysts for results.
Triaging documentation for long-term storage or discard.
Place samples off and on instrument
Load specimens and start instrument to perform CBCs.
Makes smears
Participates in required Continuing Education and Master Control activities.
Attends all required meetings and represents laboratory in a professional manner.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
Associate’s degree or higher in Medical Technology (MT or MLT). No additional experience required
Associates degree or higher in chemical, physical or biological science and with 3 months of supervised training or experience. Once qualified, direct supervision not required.
