As a Fixed Route Bus Driver for Lebanon Transit, you will be responsible for:
Providing public transportation services on fixed bus routes to the residents of Lebanon County.Being courteous and attentive to your passengers' needs so that customers have a high-quality experience on their trip.Completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle to ensure your passengers' safety and reporting any maintenance issues to the Maintenance Department.Maintaining safe conditions by obeying traffic laws, observing road conditions, and enforcing passenger safety/conduct rules.Assisting passengers that require aid by helping them board/depart the bus, securing wheelchairs properly, and announcing required and special request stops.Following proper emergency procedures in the event of an accident or safety incident and completing all required safety training.Communicating with personnel, such as the Fixed Route Supervisor or Director of Safety and Training, in accordance with Federal Communication Commission guidelines.Ensuring proper collection and cataloging of fares, receipts, and forms relating to ridership and passenger transfers.Complying with LT policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal government regulations.Contributing to our continued team efforts by training assigned employees, participating in problem-solving methods, and maintaining a cooperative relationship with coworkers and management.Requirements
Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement and air brake restriction liftedCurrent Department of Transportation physicalHigh school education and job-related experience preferredMust meet hiring requirements including, but not limited to -- minimum 25 years of age, acceptable driving record, and background check in accordance with LT standardsAbility to apply critical thinking and common sense to carry out transportation servicesAbility to keep mentally alert and maintain concentration for extended periods of timeKnowledge of safe driving practices and demonstrated ability to operate and drive transit vehicles in a safe mannerAbility to understand and adhere to LT rules, procedures, directions, funding guidelines, Department of Transportation regulations, and Pennsylvania traffic regulationsAbility to work all bid runs, variable shifts, and irregular hours and availability for work/overtime in accordance with bid, CBA, policy, and response to emergency situationsCustomer service skills with knowledge of how to deal courteously, sensitively, and effectively with the public and adherence to regulations and harassment/discrimination policies/guidelinesAbility to operate communication and other designated automated equipmentEffective time management skills and ability to follow and schedule and meet deadlinesAbility to actively listen, communicate effectively, and follow oral and written instructions provided in EnglishBenefits
