Work involves combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires; responding to emergency medical calls, rescue operations, and a variety of non-emergency calls to protect lives and property. Work also involves custodial maintenance of fire station equipment, firefighting apparatus, rescue vehicles, and quarters.
QualificationsPossession of National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Firefighter I, National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Hazmat Awareness and Operations and National Registry Emergency Medical Responder Certification. High school diploma or GED issued by an accredited institution. Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid drivers license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Ability to meet the current minimum requirements for firefighters operating in the State of Georgia as set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council Rules and Regulations.
