POSITION SUMMARY The Finish Technician is responsible for the installation doors, hose beds, body panels, and other final parts to the fire apparatus as called for in the specifications. This position will drill, manipulate, and perform light fabrication to parts and necessary truck components to complete the custom installation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS All employees are required to support Rosenbauer s Mission, Vision, and Values. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer. Responsible for the installation of doors, hose beds, compartment internals, and body panels. Drills and tap holes and perform light fabrication to complete projects as needed. Read and understand specs and blueprints to build fire apparatus. Installs customized options chosen by customers and called out in the specifications. Utilizes a variety of basic hand and power tools to complete the installation of final parts to the fire apparatus. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the department. WORKING CONDITIONS This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. There is a chance of exposure to corrosives, oil, or detergents. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. There is sometimes dust from sanding materials. When working on certain parts of the truck, there may be low light, but there is portable lighting always available to all employees. Some working conditions may involve confined spaces and heights, which may lead to difficulty in maintaining balance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands for the entire shift. It can become very loud in the shop with many machines being used. With constant noise, talking or hearing can be difficult. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, legs, fingers, and hands for over 60 minutes at a time. As, Finish Technician kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing, balancing, and reaching are required to complete job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. During some shifts, the use of your back, shoulders, arms, and knees is required for up to 15 minutes. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
