The ProMedica Financial Coach will report to the Manager, Financial Stability and Workforce Development and will work closely with other departments including clinical providers and Paramount. In addition, the coach will work with external partners delivering community programs and companies that enter into fee-for-service contracts. The Financial Opportunity Center Coach will be sit on the Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) team.
POSITION SUMMARY Financial Opportunity Centers (FOCs) are community-based centers that focus on the financial bottom line for low-to-moderate income individuals. This means changing people's financial behavior in a way that encourages them to make a long-term commitment to increasing income, decreasing expenses and acquiring assets. ProMedica Health Systems’ FOC is a first of its kind operation. Collaborations with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), United Way and the Toledo Community Foundation support ProMedica’ commitment to providing integrated care and addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) by offering financial coaching, job training and community health supports. The ProMedica FOC Financial Coach uses strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills to facilitate financial coaching while simultaneously assisting with the integration of services into other ProMedica organizational and community initiatives. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and should be experienced and comfortable communicating both one-on-one and with small groups of people on a variety of financial and social topics.
ACCOUNTABILITIES All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise 1. Provide direct service including conducting one-on-one coaching and training, aimed at helping primarily low-to-moderate households to increase financial capability, positively improve financial behavior, and achieve financial goals. 2. Develop individualized financial stability action plans in collaboration with clients, including but not limited to, assisting with financial goal-setting, money management habits, savings, credit building, debt management, utilization of financial services and products, tax preparation, benefit screening, employment services, etc. 3. Establish and execute fee-for-service contracts within partner companies. 4. Identify and refer participants to other community resources and services, as needed, to achieve clients’ financial goals. 5. Identify, cultivate and maintain effective relationships with key providers of other community resources and services, coordinating efforts as needed in order to maximize client impact. 6. Ensure client’s physical and electronic files are accurate, up to date and secure. 7. Create and financial based distribute content for clients, such as newsletters, tipsheets, blogs, videos, etc. 8. Continue professional development to acquire new skills and techniques to promote high-quality services and impact. 9. Work with leadership to adapt coaching methods and tools in order to create more effective client and program service delivery and outcomes. 10. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. 11. Conduct workshops as a means of outreach and education.
Represent ProMedica FOC at various community meetings, conferences, committees; attend and participate in UW special events to assist our community support efforts.
• Ability to provide financial coaching services through a diverse and inclusive lens. • Experience serving low-to-moderate income working populations required. • Excellent social/interpersonal skills and writing ability commensurate with the communication and reporting requirement of the position. • Knowledge and experience in employment, financial and income supports coaching, counseling, and personal finances, particularly in the areas of budgeting, asset and credit building. • Ability to apply critical and strategic thinking. • Must be willing to complete additional certifications within the first 6 months of hire, including but not limited to financial coaching, credit counseling, and WorkKeys. Years of Experience: 2-3 years in a financial coaching role. Experience and demonstrated success in serving at-risk and/or low-to-moderate income populations. Experienced and comfortable communicating one-on-one and with small groups of people on a variety of financial.
Preferred Qualification:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, finance, or related field.
