The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team own Amazon's worldwide packaging strategy. They design and drive the adoption of packaging technologies by lowering our cost structure, unlocking additional selection, and improving customer experience. Packaging and Innovation is responsible for the development of global automated work cells that improve the safety and productivity of our packaging operations. They design and develop packaging work cells that can be back-built into existing buildings and incorporated into the designs of next generation buildings.

MSP Finance seeks a Finance leader to own US/CA Ship Supplies FP&A. Experience in this team opens up several career opportunities across Amazon. Persons in this role have advancement opportunities to support different businesses and learn about WW Operations. The role has visibility to L8 Finance.
Team Exposure/Scope: Ship supplies forecasting includes OP planning and quarterly guidance cycles as well as bridging results weekly, monthly, and quarterly. Bridging commentary is developed in partnership with business teams to provide appropriate levels of detail to explain how we are tracking against baselines including prior year, OP2, and the latest Guidance forecast. The role oversees the accuracy and financial impact of inventory cycle counting conducted at all facilities. The role is responsible for identifying material errors during month-end-close and providing accounting with the necessary calculation and documentation to post corrective journal entries as required.
When not dedicated to forecasting or closing activities, the role spends their time partnering with the business to support strategic packaging decisions (e.g., sourcing and automation) and identifying opportunities to improve forecast accuracy by stabilizing and improving shipping supplies purchasing processes, controls, data sources, and forecasting practices.
Success in this role: You have a proven track record of taking ownership and driving results. Demonstrated ability to build and manage financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving. Collaboratively work with business leaders to deliver results, including the ability to persuade with data.
Key Responsibilities:
Identifies basic control risks, evaluates impact, proposes changes, and implements improvements to remediate gaps
Delivers weekly/monthly financial close. Uses financial systems and advanced MSExcel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.
Works with a variety of data sources. Identifies incomplete or inaccurate data, identifies root causes of data issues, escalates discrepancies, fixes data where possible or partners to deliver a solution.
Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
Identifies and implements solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.
Makes thoughtful time management decisions independently. Prioritizes work, resolves issues, meets deadlines, and seeks feedback from your manager. Discerns between urgent and non-urgent issues and acts accordingly to solve them.
Drives own self-development in the Finance Community and seeks opportunities to expand finance expertise. Participates in events, initiatives, and projects, then shares gained knowledge in and outside of your team.

Basic Qualifications
BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
MBA, or CPA
Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
