Primary PurposePosition performs a variety of accounting tasks in support of the County and Airport overall operations. Responsible for select departments payment of invoices. Prepares various accounting, financial or fiscal reports and supportingdocuments.
Essential Functions
Prepares specialized reports and financial analysis by examining vouchers, invoices and monthly statements.Processes payments by either keying invoices or updating batches entered by other departments, only after verifying required documentation and backup.Reconciles and balances statements and accounts.Oversees specific departments by insuring expenditures are in accordance with budget.Works closely with departments and vendors to resolve issues.Keys all Journal Entries into County's financial system.Keys all Line Item transfers and Budget Amendments as well.Since these affect the budget, maintain originals with backup in a binder dedicated solelyto LIT's and BA's.In some cases, posted revenue results in a specific expenditure.Many of these receipts occur on a monthly basis such as JCPC or Clerk of Court.At month end, utilize specific reports to allocate expenditures.Minimum Education and ExperienceGraduation from a four year college with a major in accounting or business or a two year degree with supplemental accounting coursework and considerable experience as an accounting technician in a progressively responsible fiscal environment, preferably in a governmental operation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Information
Performs other accounting related duties as assigned by the Finance Director or Assistant Finance Director.Requires excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to learn particular financial system's software.In the event of a disaster, may be required to serve as needed.
