Workersmust work at a sustained (continuing for an extended period of timewithout interruption), vigorous pace (quick and steady) and make bonafide efforts (made in earnest intent) to work efficiently (performing orfunctions in the best possible manner with the least waste of time andeffort) and consistently (same way for a long time) that are reasonableunder the climatic and other working conditions, Workers may not leavetrash, or other discarded items in work areas or vehicles but mustdispose of such items in provided receptacles. Workers must wash handswith soap and water after all bathroom and meal breaks. Allergies tovarieties of ragweed, goldenrod, insecticides, related agriculturalchemicals, etc., may affect workers ability to perform the workdescribed herein.
Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes,all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitarypractices at all times. This is particularly critical when handharvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required tocleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water afterusing the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activitiesor the packing facility for packing operations.
Workers will plant, cultivate and harvest crops named in this job order.Workers may be responsible for preparation of field beds, assisting ininstallation of drip irrigation and black plastic. Workers will thin andprune fruit trees, as needed according to supervisors instructions.Workers will train black berry vines to ensure maximum growth.
Asparagus, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Sweet Corn, Green Beans,Melons, Peppers, Tomatoes, Field Mums, Sweet Potatoes, and Pumpkins:Workers will plant, cultivate, and harvest vegetables. Workers will berequired to remove weeds by hand or with a hoe. Workers will bend andstoop to pick vegetables according to size, color, shape and degree ofmaturity and place into field containers. Workers may carry fullcontainer weighing approximately fifty (50) lbs. and empty into fieldbin or load onto trailer. May be required to pull and discard culls asdirected by supervisor. Pickers will take care not to bruise or scarproduce. Pre-harvest activities may include staking, tying,transplanting and pruning. Workers will stand on feet for long periodsof time. Workers are required to work in fields when plants are wet withdew or rain. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range fromforty (40) to over one hundred (100) degrees.
Orchard Maintenance: Workers will be responsible for general orchardclean up. They will rake up debris from the land such as sticks, straw,etc. Workers involved in orchard maintenance may be required to hoetrees, girdle, spread fertilizer, pick up roots and limbs, strip suckersor unwanted growth from trees, dig root suckers, knock fruit off trees,use hand sprayer, remove vines, lay irrigation pipe, repair and maintaindrip system, and strap and tie fruit trees. Employer will provide allequipment. Instruction will be given for each task and standards ofperformance communicated to workers. The specific standards for a jobwill be disclosed and demonstrated by the supervisor before the workbegins.
Orchard Clean Up: They may be responsible for the removal of old andunproductive fruit trees. They must take care to not damage or destroyany other trees or property in the area.
