Overview
Kemin is currently hiring for a Facilities Manager to oversee our Des Moines, Iowa campus. This position will be responsible for overseeing snow removal and lawn maintenance, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, HVAC, carpentry, general repair services, and planning and scheduling functions. Additionally, this role will have oversight of several ongoing facility related vendor services including janitorial, window washing, maintenance, and service contracts.
This position will also manage the direction of several key areas of Kemin’s facilities organization and collaborate with the team to provide broader oversight of the department budget, staff development, and employee engagement. The Facilities Manager will work with the team to define, measure, and advance department productivity and quality, ensure repairs and inspections are met, and maintain the campus facility and grounds areas that allow for a high degree of safety and ambiance.

Responsibilities
Manage the Campus Facilities team to communicate and maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of Kemin employees and ensure requests are addressed in a timely manner.
Operate snow plow and other winter weather removal equipment in a timely manner.
Manage the daily operation of multiple buildings on campus, including the upkeep and maintenance of snow plow equipment, lawn care equipment, trucks and trailers.
Provide general building repair and building utility, operation and maintenance.
Respond to issues with light fixtures, plumbing, doors & hardware, and general finishes.
Responsible for coordinating inspections and certifications of all fume hoods and biological safety cabinets.
Oversight of janitorial services for all buildings and Des Moines locations.
Responsible to coordinate planned maintenance and winterization for water features and fountains.
Responsible for ongoing services for grease interceptors.
Responsible for elevator service agreements.
Ability to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and perform various maintenance tasks.
Operate lawn care equipment in a timely manner.
Ability to operate a forklift, skid loader, mowers, snow removal equipment and other manufacturing equipment.
Work with all departments such as but not limited to Administrative staff, R&D staff, shipping and receiving, warehousing, outside vendors and company customers.
Qualifications
High School or equivalent with 10+ years of experience or a 4-year degree with 5+ years of experience managing campus facility maintenance
Horticulture knowledge is a plus
Must have a solid understanding and adherence to the Servant Leadership philosophy.
Safety, OSHA, First Aid/ CPR/ AED training
Hazardous materials knowledge
