  When you join our team as a Facilities Maintenance Technician you will join a dedicated, talented, and supportive team responsible for ensuring that our childcare centers are a safe and inviting environment for children to grow, explore, and learn.

  You will provide facilities maintenance support for our centers and sites, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment for the children we serve, as well as our staff. Our Facilities Techs perform preventative maintenance, external/internal building repairs, and address safety and licensing concerns. KinderCare Learning Companies provides a company vehicle and equipment for completing assigned tasks. To be successful, you need to be able to navigate independent and highly collaborative work, partnering with your direct supervisor, your fellow techs, and the centers' staff.

  Responsibilities:

  Perform general repairs and improvements to building interior and exterior spaces and facility operating systems (e.g. Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC); electrical; plumbing; other mechanical; and lighting), general carpentry and repair of facility structures, as well as minor plumbing workPerform monthly preventative maintenance visits for each assigned centerPerform safety and security inspections of playgrounds and propertySupervise performance of outside vendors (landscaping, snow removal, pest control)Assist with inspections of renovations and new construction, as well as assisting management in identifying potential capital replacement projectsOrder materials, update and/or create work orders and provide status updates through electronic Facilities Management software and systemsEngage and communicate effectively and productively with the Operations team and local vendors for the purpose of providing excellent service deliveryOccasional travel/overnights stays may be required

  Qualifications:

  Clear State/Federal background/DMV checkProven experience in managing ongoing lists of maintenance projects and follow through commitments made.Maintenance experience in a multi-unit environment, preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of materials, methods, terminology, equipment, and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems, including those used in performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work.Knowledge of and ability to use tools of office automation, including computers and applicable software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and work order management software, iPhone and iPad.Time management and organization skills.Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions and a solid understanding of basic machinery, preventive maintenance, and repair.Ability to read, understand, and apply facility maintenance manuals and technical bulletins, construction drawings, plans and specifications.Ability to build and maintain relationships with team and center staff.Strong professional communication skills.Self- motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively.Qualified to operate a company vehicle based on a motor vehicle record check and company policy.Trade/vocational training or certifications, specific to: playgrounds, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, and/or construction, preferred.
