Provide overall maintenance support for KinderCare Learning Centers and Champions Before and After School Programs, through a consistent level of service and communication to our center staff and the families we support. Safety is our concern #1 as a facilities team. Through daily management, the nature of work involves a variety of facilities related tasks, such as preventative maintenance, external/internal building repairs, and safety and licensing concerns. KinderCare Education provides a company vehicle and equipment for completing assigned tasks. To be successful, you need to be able to navigate independent and highly collaborative work, partnering with your direct supervisor, your fellow techs, and the centers' staff.
Job Summary:
Technicians are responsible for the following: ongoing maintenance at assigned centers; reacting to emergency situations as they arise; completing preventive maintenance as directed by immediate supervisor; and ensuring that centers are maintained in a safe, inviting condition. Technicians are also responsible for engaging and communicating effectively and productively with the Operations team and with local vendors for the purpose of providing excellent service delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs general repairs and improvements to building interior and exterior spaces and facility operating systems (e.g., Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC); electrical; plumbing; other mechanical; and lighting) General carpentry and repair of facility structures, as well as minor plumbing workPerform monthly preventative maintenance visits for each assigned centerPerform safety and security inspections of playgrounds and propertyMonitor performance of outside vendors (landscaping, snow removal, pest control)Assists with inspections of renovations and new construction, as well as assisting management in identifying potential capital replacement projectsOrder materials, update and/or create work orders and provide status updates through electronic Facilities Management software and systemsOther related duties as assignedOccasional travel/overnights stays may be required
Qualifications:
Must Haves:
• Clear State/Federal background/DMV check
• Proven experience in managing ongoing lists of maintenance projects and follow through commitments made.
• Maintenance experience in a multi-unit environment, preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of materials, methods, terminology, equipment, and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems, including those used in performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work.
Knowledge of and ability to use tools of office automation, including computers and applicable software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and work order management software, iPhone and iPad.Time management and organization skillsBasic knowledge of mechanical equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions and a working knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.Ability to read, understand, and apply facility maintenance manuals and technical bulletins, construction drawings, plans and specifications.Ability to perform well under high volume of requests.Ability to build and maintain relationships with team and center staff.Strong professional communication skills.Self- motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively.Qualified to operate a company vehicle based on a motor vehicle record check and company policy.
