Fabrication Operator
This Fabrication Operator position is an opportunity for a highly motivated person who will operate machinery in our CNC and Weld Departments. Successful candidates are team oriented with a continuous improvement mindset. The position will report within the Lowell, MI facility on first shift.
Primary Responsibilities for This Position
Running Machinery: Responsible for operation of CNC mills, lathes, robotic welder and automated weld cells, auto sander, and other fabrication equipment. Package and assemble finished goods. Work with hand tools to complete assembly jobs. Follow an established job rotation throughout the work area.
Testing: Utilizing test equipment and control plans to test assembled products for safety, function, and compliance.
Safety and Housekeeping: Responsible for the safety and cleanliness of work cells. Inspect work cells throughout the shift and inform other team members of areas for improvement. Empty trash and cardboard as needed. Keep components well stocked.
Communication: Escalate issues to appropriate parties as they arise. Assist in troubleshooting. Work in team environment to achieve goals.
Quality: Maintain high quality standards; continuously monitor your production quality; visually inspect or measure parts throughout the production run; set up all required gauges and checks; inspect parts throughout the shift and address quality issues with the appropriate personnel. When parts are in question, notify supervision.
Measures: Record, monitor, or report scrap, efficiency, and schedule completion; communicate these measures to the team.
Problem Solving: Report of any mechanical or system problems to maintenance and leadership. Work with Supervisors and Maintenance to assist in problem solving and resolutions on a daily basis.
Relief: Perform any other assigned duties as required throughout the day.
Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Ability to operate manufacturing equipment and hand tools
Ability to run fabrication equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Demonstrated problem solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues
Communicate effectively both verbally and written
1-3 years of manufacturing work experience required
Weld or CNC experience preferred
Experience with MS Office and Attwood systems preferred (e.g. CICS)
