About the Role
The External Affairs Manager (EAM) is responsible for identifying and finding solutions to patient access related challenges and opportunities following an access or a pricing condition, and to work cross-functionally to secure best possible access through national/regional implementation.
The main focus for EAM is to work in line with relevant HTA processes and pricing and tendering cycles in order to maximize the current opportunity, enter negotiation or to shape the market for future opportunities within defined key accounts for priority brands (PB) and BP launches. EAM can if needed, support Public Affairs (PA) on policy shaping activities.
EAM will develop expertise in healthcare and account access. EAM will effectively lead and support regional/account communication and shaping strategies towards key audiences and stakeholders (e.g. relevant governmental bodies, HCPs, payers and budget holding institutions/accounts) with the support from Value and Access manager (VAM) and Pricing and Tender manager (P&TM) and field teams.
Key responsibilities:
• Provide insight and analytic from market based on sales numbers, access conditions, KOLs and payer insight and discussions, and secure that external opportunities are aligned with OIP and TP at national/regional level or key accounts.
• Identify, develop and operationalize product payer strategies in OIP and TP, and operationalize drug value stories to meet PB and PB launch strategies. Payer related value stories and tools (e.g., materials with payer value stories) may be co-create with VAM for BP brands with key external customers (national, regional or local).
• Partner with cross functional team and drive the execution of key market shaping activities (payer and policy uptake initiatives) with the goal to maximize access at national/regional level or within accounts.
• Represent Novartis in relevant external working groups and partner with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Training in communication of value stories to internal teams if relevant
• Initiate strategy discussions with external payer and relevant customer.

Role Requirements
Essential requirements:
• Based on position's requirements, ideally candidate will be located in Norway"
• Local language proficiency is required. English fluent spoken & written.
• At least 3 years of working experience in the pharmaceutical environment, preferably experience from a similar position (e.g. External Affairs Manager, Regional Account manager, National Account manager, Key Account Management.)
• Knowledge about the country HTA system including the pricing/contracting/reimbursement/tender system is a must
• Leadership/coaching experience
• Documented knowledge of access environment (tender/contracting/bid/procurement)
• Strong analytic competence with track record on securing quantitative results according to objectives
• Strong communication skills as well as strong writing skills, with ability to concisely distill complex scientific or technical information into clear messaging that is accessible to a wide range of audiences
• Skills or strong interest in artificial intelligence (AI)
• Curiosity and drive to acquire knowledge relevant for pricing within disease areas
