Boeing's Space & Launch team is seeking a Project Management Specialist (Expert or Senior) (Level 4/5) to serve as the Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) Lead Project Manager (PM) for the Space Launch System (SLS) program in Huntsville, AL. This position will be part of the Program Integration team and ensure horizontal and vertical integration across the SEIT Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to include Control Account Manager responsibilities.
NASA's Space Launch Systemprovides a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo to/beyond our moon and into deep space. SLS launches larger payloads farther into our solar system, faster than ever before possible. It is the most powerful rocket ever built, enabling diverse exploration, and science and security missions. Boeing is the prime contractor for the design, development, testing, and production of the launch vehicle cryogenic stages and avionics suite.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops overall project plans consistent with project objectives as defined by the project owner and key stakeholders in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g., PMI, Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI, and ISO standards).
Leads SEIT project execution utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensures coordination among all stakeholders (internal/external) to ensure on-time completion of team efforts.
Identifies key project-level horizontal and vertical integration interfaces between major activities, teams, suppliers, partners, and customers.
Leads performance to plan meetings, holding others accountable to commitments, and interfacing directly with NASA customers.
Leads Control Account Managers (CAM) with a special focus on SEIT Earned Value Management (EVM) integration, ensuring an executable baseline is in place, performance accrual is maintained, estimate at complete is accurate, and root cause variance analysis and corrective actions are completed on time.
Identifies issues across teams/functions and facilitates resolution in an expeditious manner.
Institutes Lean practices to eliminate waste, improve project management processes, streamline business systems, and implementation of the Program Management Best Practices (PMBP).
Leads special projects ensuring project control systems are in place and integrating project data for decision-makers.
Leads team-level Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) management, ensuring mitigation/capture plans are established and executed to plan.
Develops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation.
Lead interface to SEIT team for all proposal activities.
Attention to detail and good written/verbal skills to communicate project status to customers and translate customer requirements into contract actions.
This position is a hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
5+years of experience in using project management methodologies, including developing project plans, performance management, and managing issues and risks
5+ years of experience implementing Earned Value Management
3+ years of experience working with Project management skills, and the ability to drive performance to plan and results
3+ years of experience collecting and analyzing data from multiple sources, as well as interpreting data and presenting analysis and recommendations to management
5+ years of experience in Excel (i.e. formulas, pivot tables, linking worksheets)
3+ years of experience developing presentations for leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing Project Plans in Scheduling Software (e.g. Microsoft Project, Milestones Professional)
Experience working with/supporting a Systems Engineering Team
Experience working on a Government Program
3+ years Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
3+ years Conducting Root Cause Variance Analysis
3+ years Interfacing Directly with External Customers
5+ years Facilitating Leadership Meetings

Expert Level 4:

Senior Level 5:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+13 years' related work experience, 19 years' related work experience, etc.)

Summary pay range Expert Level 4: $107,950 -$146,050
Summary pay range Senior Level 5: $132,600 - $179,400
