The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

This is a hybrid position working 2 days a week in our Boston office
Who we are: To win in a world of accelerated change, it is critical to create the protected space to incubate new ideas, rapidly test concepts in market, and accelerate the delivery of critical insights and capabilities to the business. In 2023, Solaria Labs expanded our scope beyond Global Retail Markets (GRM) to become Liberty's enterprise-wide incubation function within the Enterprise Strategy & Innovation team. This change is enabling us to leverage Solaria's capabilities across our businesses and functions to test and learn in a way that reduce uncertainty, de-risk future investments and limit distraction for the core business.
About the Role: The Experimentation Strategy Lead/Asst. Director is a key member of Solaria's Insights and Experimentation Enablement team. This team focuses on shaping the strategic direction of the lab and driving insights and research that influence Solaria's pipeline of opportunities and programs. We seek to inspire and empower employees across Liberty to foster an experimental mindset. We are a diverse team with experience in innovation strategy, market and competitive intelligence, and primary customer research.
In this role, you will support the day-to-day strategic operations of the lab, including our internal/external communication strategy, executive reporting and planning, and lab-wide activities and events. You will have the opportunity to partner across all Solaria teams, including our incubation teams, user experience, data science, and engineers. You will also have exposure to teams across Liberty, having the potential to partner with USRM, GRS, LMI, and Corporate Functions. In addition to the above, you will be designing, building, and managing experimentation programs that provide Liberty employees with unique opportunities to innovate and think creatively about their roles and key business problems. Example programs you would help manage: Innovation Experience Program: our short-term assignment program designed to provide employees with a fully immersive experience spending ~3 months working on a project in Solaria. Ideation and Experimentation Workshops: curated sessions designed in partnership with business stakeholders to teach employees on innovative methodologies (e.g., design thinking, hypothesis-based testing) and leverage those concepts to tackle key business problems. Innovation Challenges: our platform to enable ideation at scale. Employees can brainstorm and submit ideas around a key business challenge. The top ideas are pitched to a panel of leaders, with the winning idea getting prioritized! Responsibilities: Support our communications plan, thinking creatively about how we increase our innovation presence internally and externally. Identify opportunities to increase collaboration and connectivity across Solaria Labs, including leading various team meetings and events, and piloting new frameworks/tools. Assist in the creation of executive and partner presentations and reporting. F oster a more experimental culture across Liberty Mutual by supporting the execution and expansion of various cultural programs. Programs may include leading our short-term assignment program and facilitating large-scale innovation challenges. Facilitate in person and virtual workshops focused on ideation and experimentation with various cross-functional audiences to tackle key business challenges. Lead special projects, working cross-functionally to drive alignment and outcomes on key areas of focus. Please note this is posted as 2 level of positions. Compensation will vary based on experience, expertise and education.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Innovation, or similar field. Minimum of 4-6 years' experience in strategy, innovation, continuous improvement, experience design or user/market research required for Lead role. Minimum of 6-8 years' experience in strategy, innovation, continuous improvement, experience design or user/market research required for Assistant Director role. Demonstrated experience bringing diverse groups together, leading brainstorms, partnering, and gaining alignment with cross-functional teams. Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail. Positive attitude and willingness to wear multiple hats. Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can navigate ambiguity. Experience with various innovative methodologies, including design thinking and hypothesis based testing, preferred but not required.
