Job Summary:
The Cirrus Experimental team is tasked with the development of new components and technologies intended for evaluation on next generation aircraft. The primary responsibility of the Experimental Welder / Fabricator will be to fabricate components using varied processes and methods. This role requires constant learning of new methods and the application of new industry technologies. The individual must be self-motivated, have a high degree of integrity, strong verbal skills, and be comfortable working with a highly diverse cross functional team.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Possess a broad skillset used to fabricate precision aircraft parts.
Fabricate parts from models, blueprints, drawings, and verbal directions.
Able to fabricate to print and verify accuracy using measuring instruments.
Possess a strong creative mind and extreme attention to detail.
Envision the full process of the build – layout through installation.
Welding proficiency through all positions on a variety of materials (Stainless steel, Chrome-Moly steel, Aluminum, etc).
Weld together metal components as specified by blueprints, diagrams, and manufacturing instructions using GTAW.
Capable of welding in applicable processes including GTAW and GMAW.
Knowledge of equipment such as power shear, band saw, drill press, and common hand tools.
Responsible for fabrication of aircraft piece parts and tooling, prototypes, and tooling - fixtures.
Collaborate with a wide audience to develop technologies and designs.
Possess strong creative mind and extreme attention to detail.
Knowledge of manual engine lathes and knee mills is a plus.
Computer Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must.
Education and/or Experience
3-5 years of combined schooling and industry experience. Aerospace, manufacturing, industrial or Welding program certificate preferred.
Certificates or Licensures:
Must be able to pass required weld certification per AWS D17.1
