Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Cardiac Exercise Physiologist you will plan, deliver and evaluate programs for Cardiac Rehabilitation, supervise exercise for special populations, nutrition counseling and weight management, and general health wellness programs. You will function in a team environment, providing quality care to our patients as a primary focus. In this role:
You will create individualized therapy plans to meet patients ADL, recreational, vocational, and general health goals
You will implement therapy plans according to appropriate step levels, clinical pathways, and program policies
You will instruct patients in proper exercise techniques for all modes of exercise, including warm-up, cool-down, stretching, and use of all equipment
You will analyze test results and provides appropriate recommendations for exercise prescription and lifestyle modification
You will monitor and progress of patients based on risk stratification, subjective, and objective responses to prescribed therapy
You will demonstrate skill and accuracy in rest and exercise blood pressure monitoring, general fitness testing, EKG prepping and lead recognition, arrhythmia detection, EKG interpretation, and recognition of adverse clinical signs and symptoms
You will develop and teach education programs to cardiac patients, employees, and the general community
You will serve as an expert exercise therapy resource in the clinical setting, showing ability to adapt treatment plan for multiple cardiac, pulmonary, and metabolic diseases
What qualifications you will need:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
ACSM Certified Exercise Specialist preferred
Bachelor’s degree of Exercise Physiology or closely related field required: Coursework in Anatomy & Physiology, Psychology, Pathophysiology, and Lifestyle Modification.
Education and experience in EKG interpretation
Preferred 2 years’ experience working in a cardiac rehabilitation setting
