Make a Difference
Exercise Physiologist provide direct care to cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients for restoring functional capacity by assuring safe and appropriate instruction in monitored exercise.
Exceptional Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Wellness, required
Basic Life Support (BLS), required
Exercise Physiologist Certified (EPC), preferred
Six months of experience in cardiac rehabilitation facility, required. Cardiopulmonary experience preferred
Possesses advanced knowledge of cardiac/pulmonary anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, dysrhythmias and identification of life-threatening electrocardiogram changes
Knowledge of role of lifestyle modification in lowering cardiovascular risk factors
Ability to physically facilitate and support patients participating in the rehabilitation program in performance of exercise, by demonstration, as needed
Provides instructional activities targeting cardiac and pulmonary risk factor reduction and healthy lifestyle promotion
Facilitates psychological adjustment to lifestyle changes
Periodically reviews progress of each participant and adjusts the plan of care accordingly
