This leadership role will develop and deploy a team to operationalize the GSK biomarker and diagnostics strategies for programs in Oncology, Respiratory, Immunology, Vaccines, and Infectious Diseases, while optimizing processes, developing and communicating strategy, ensuring audit readiness, and ensuring overall operational excellence for the Precision Medicine Unit.
The Executive Director will lead by embedding a culture of collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion that embraces precision medicine in drug development.

These responsibilities include some of the following:Accountable for leading a team of 20+ Precision Medicine (PM) Operations professionals that drive the implementation of the clinical biomarker and diagnostic (Dx) plans for therapeutic programs in early and late-stage clinical development across all therapeutic areasResponsible to fully resource key scientific programs, projects, and scientific initiatives within the scope of clinical biomarkers and diagnostics; ensure team is resourced and trained to start up, manage and close clinical trials, including partnering with biomarker/Dx leads, and being responsible for editing clinical documents, sample management, vendor management, study budget management, and data managementIdentify and build the capabilities required of the team to ensure PM deliverables and objectives are successfully metLeverage knowledge of the science, portfolio and strategy of R&D across all therapeutic areas and the Precision Medicine Unit to create an infrastructure to deliver high-quality scientific operations support to scientific staffEngage with and influence leaders of cross-functional stakeholders to develop operational strategies and infrastructure that enable PM effortsDevelop high performing scientific operational standards that lead to outstanding quality, speed, rigor of clinical biomarker and diagnostic deliverables; diagnose, design and deliver strategic scientific operational improvement projectsProactively support developing and reviewing standard processes and templatesContribute to the continued building of a framework within the Operations function focusing on growth and development of new and "innovative" ways to work with internal and external partnersDesign and implement ways of operating to ensure effective collaboration with internal and external contracted labs and delivery of robust biomarker, PK/PD, immunogenicity, and diagnostic dataAdhere to guidelines, SOPs, practices, and technical and industry standards during all aspects of workOversee Operation's inspection readiness by ensuring preparedness and compliance and support team members in connection to inspections and auditsEnsure development and implementation of specific GUIs and other controlled documents in collaboration with the PM Unit's QA teamServe as a key strategic liaison with stakeholders across Clinical Operations, Central HBSM, Biobank, Data Management, Procurement, Regulatory, and Quality AssuranceRepresent PM Operations department internally and externally in meetings, and discussions, as required Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:PhD in Life Sciences with a minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry, or MS in Life Sciences with a minimum of 13 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry5+ years managing Precision Medicine Operations team(s) of 15+ employeesExperience with clinical trial design and executionExperience in clinical biomarker and Dx development and operationsExperience in strategic set-up of central laboratory operations, study start up, clinical sample tracking/reconciliation and analysisExperience with GCP environment and Lab Management System (e.g., LIMS)Experience in outsourcing processes and vendor management/oversightExperience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project) and remote meeting tools such as MS TeamsPreferred Qualifications:
