Position Summary:
The Executive Director, Data & Analytics Business Engagement Lead plays a critical role in shaping the enterprise data and analytics roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company's overall business objectives. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of data, analytics, and the ability to lead the collaboration between business stakeholders across the Estee Lauder Companies' Brands, Regions, Channels, Functions, D&A spokes, and Global D&A hub teams (including cross-functional data teams, insights & analytics, and data services). You will create, align, sequence, and execute an end-to-end Data & Analytics roadmap balancing immediate value with growing foundational maturity. This is a new strategic role in the company that addresses a need for stronger business collaboration and expert guidance to sequence and prioritize the investments in the data and analytics space.
By having visibility onto the D&A needs of the entire organization, this role will be able to identify synergies across teams and define the right sequencing of data initiatives to "build once and power many" use cases. This role will optimize the Value Chain that enables priority data and analytics initiatives and maximize the value generated by D&A investments.
This role will start with the implementation of a new D&A op model, including a new delivery model and a new data services capability with redefined roles across IT and Enterprise Marketing & Data. This role will design, rollout, and lead a new demand intake and prioritization process, as well as drive the deployment of a new governance forum to decide on data and analytics access requests (in partnership with data owners and IT security).

D&A Roadmap
• Lead the creation, evolution, and execution of an enterprise data & analytics roadmap:
o Collaborate with business stakeholders and spokes to identify opportunities for D&A to drive decision making, enhance business performance and profitable growth.
o Understand current state of reporting and analytics data reference architecture and identify gaps to best practices.
o Gather a deep understanding of the business D&A needs across Brands/Regions/Functions (existing and new D&A products including dashboards, advanced analytics, and data science), the associated pain points and enhancement requests. Help business stakeholders articulate the business value and drive value tracking.
o Translate the business D&A needs into D&A requirements and specifications and gather input from the data management, analytics, and data services teams to gain high level understanding of the effort required to deliver those requirements, and of the architecture needs (e.g., data mesh or data transfer, choice of visualization tool) based on expected performance, frequency, and volumes.
o Evaluate D&A enablers (including tools) in partnership with leaders from the D&A hub and spokes and identify missing enablers. Sequence enablers prioritization.
o Consolidate a proposed sequence of D&A initiatives (both foundational and D&A product / use-case based) and align with the EVP & Chief Data Officer on the prioritized roadmap / tactics.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices, incorporating them into the D&A strategy.
Business engagement / Spoke & product management
• Align with the spokes on their vision for D&A products and define with them a roadmap of what products need to be built/enhanced including sequencing and timing. There are 15+ spokes across Brands, Regions, Channels, and Functions.
• Help the spokes develop a structured intake process (to review ideas, high level estimate of capacity/work, break down initiatives/features into EPICS and assure they align to design and timelines
• Help the spokes shift from project to product management ways of working: with the support of a product management expert/coach conduct training and implementation of new processes.
• Run an on-going intake process to prioritize incoming requests from the business to the data and analytics hub and the assignment of a delivery POD.
• Build and maintain a set of partners to support with delivery when needed and escalate in annual strategy planning, any potential need for evolving and/or enhancing internal talent skillsets / profiles.
• Maintain visibility onto the progress and needs of all D&A spokes through monthly alignment meetings.
• Monitor the impacts and value achieved from specific analytics projects against pre-defined set of criteria.
• Leverage visibility across all spokes to identify and drive synergies across all spokes and engage with the rest of the D&A global hub to seize and deliver on those cross-spoke opportunities.
Governance and cataloguing
• Gather the needs for governance around D&A across the enterprise and recommend new or enhance data governance.
• Operationalize new governance op model:
o Define need for new roles and forums
o Outline decisions to be made and participants
o Lead / participate in the new governance forums
• Lead D&A cataloguing requirements gathering, coordinate across relevant stakeholders and facilitate the choice of solution(s) with relevant stakeholders. Scope to be assessed includes:
o Catalogue for data assets
o Catalogue for data platforms
o Catalogue for analytics dashboards
o Catalogue for data science models
• Drive education, adoption, and catalogue usage by all intended users across the D&A hub, spokes, and business stakeholders
• Validate the catalogue entries and sign-off on new entries
• Once the catalogue exists, this role will be the user of the catalogue when engaging with the business to be able to point to existing data assets
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $149,500 - $257,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results, as well as participation in the share incentive plan.
