Position Summary
The Executive Director, Clinical Interoperability will set strategy and execute delivery of external data connections to data aggregators, EHR platforms, state HIEs, national networks, and other third-party vendors. The Executive Director will be responsible for clinical data exchange channels at the enterprise level, strategic management of Epic interoperability components on three instances of Epic and expanding interoperability capabilities for multiple lines of business. Scope of work includes leadership direction, cultivating and managing external vendor relationships, identifying strategic, innovative solutions for clinical data exchange, engaging with Legal on contractual agreements, collaborating with Procurement and Finance on budgets, and ensuring vendor product offerings and services are aligned with stakeholder use cases. The Executive Director will work with business stakeholders, Legal, and executive leaders to ensure the exchange and use of clinical data meets business requirements and privacy guidelines. Working with the VP, Clinical Informatics and Interoperability, the Executive Director will represent CVSH to external healthcare partners and assist in the relationship management.

Setting strategy and execute external data exchange connections for multiple enterprise initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and external partners to deliver value
Evaluating potential vendors, data aggregators, and state HIE products and services to determine which channel provides clinical data required for a given use case or market
Engaging with Privacy Office, Legal, Compliance, and Procurement on contract execution, appropriate data use, and budgeting
Providing relationship management for external partners
Developing strategic roadmaps and review future features/functionalities on the vendor roadmap to determine applicability and opportunity within the software
Providing strategic management of the interoperability components on three instances of Epic, including Care Everywhere, Healthy Planet, Referral Management, Direct Messaging, and Clinical Data Exchange modules
Expanding the use of Epic interoperability to multiple lines of business within CVSH
Delivering interoperability solutions which allow clinical data to be shared between our Epic platform, Signify Health, Oak Street Health, and other value-based care partners
Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Electronic Health Record systems utilizing your expertise to support various business areas and initiatives within CVS Health
Identifying and mitigate potential project risks and engage business stakeholders as needed in all areas including Medical, IT, Privacy, Legal, and Compliance
Constructing presentations and deliver project status updates to stakeholders and partners
Communicating complex technical subjects to technical and non-technical audiences
Providing leadership and strategic direction to 10+ direct reports
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates will need to have a minimum 12 years, 5 of them with Epic EHR systems, of professional experience in healthcare technology, electronic health records, and exchange of clinical data.
You will also need to have demonstrated experience in the following:
Exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking, and strong decision-making capabilities
Business acumen in both payer and provider lines of business with a focus on clinical data requirements for different areas
Epic platform knowledge especially within the interoperability modules including Care Everywhere, Healthy Planet, Direct Messaging, and Referral Management.
A deep understanding of interoperability and industry standards for data exchange (CCD XML, HL7, FHIR, HIE connectivity, Direct Messaging, HISP technology)
Experience working with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) vendors, applications and/or clinical data sets
Experience leading projects and processes, including coordinating activities across diverse departments and ensuring that contributions across different teams are aligned and integrated as part of overall delivery
Experience working with legal and compliance partners in support of proper creation and execution of system policies and procedures
Ability to quickly develop knowledge and understanding of new domains and underlying data sources
Ability to work with business stakeholders and executive leaders to understand business use cases and translate requirements to the final product deliverable
Ability to create and deliver project artifacts (such as roadmaps, presentations, and status updates)
Ability to identify, assess, communicate, and resolve complex problems and facilitate issue resolution and risk mitigation
Knowledge of regulations and standards related to the management of patient health information (PHI)
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including developing and delivering presentations to internal and external audiences with the goal of obtaining feedback and alignment on project goals and delivery strategies
Meticulous attention to detail and ability to effectively organize information
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with interoperability and external data exchange
Strong relationship management experience
Epic EHR certification or management experience in multiple Epic modules
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Teams, PowerPoint)

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$131,500.00 - $303,200.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
