The Opportunity
Responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing policies, strategies, and operational guidelines for Bank Operations. Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory requirements across all areas of responsibility and introduces procedural changes to maintain control standards while ensuring that all transactions are processed in a timely risk mitigating manner. Leads implementation and change management efforts across Bank Operations and extended Enterprise Support Groups. Champions process excellence and ownership within Bank Operations, manages using key performance indicators, leads investment decisions, develops high-performing teams, and advocates the USAA mission throughout the Enterprise.
What You'll Do:
Manages risk, compliance, and control issues and implements actions for mitigation to potential risk issues and business impact
Leads a team responsible for ensuring Bank Operations are managed efficiently in terms of resources and effectively in terms of meeting member, organizational and regulatory requirements
Develops, and oversees the implementation and execution of operating strategies, policies and procedures aimed at achieving operating effectiveness, efficiency and compliance
Assembles teams responsible for identifying and assessing opportunities and recommending solutions to improve processes, simplify internal/external business processes, and align resources accordingly
Leads the direction of organizational, workflow and process analysis and change management activities based on business requirements
Directs the development of complex Bank project deliverables and oversees execution of business process improvement initiatives to measure the effectiveness of the organization, both internal and external
Oversees a team that leads internal and external third-party providers with focus on key performance indicators, service level expectations, compliance and risk management
Establishes and maintains performance metrics, taking corrective action and directing the implementation of solutions to bring process performance to the next level keeping the balance between providing an outstanding member experience and managing expenses
Stays abreast of current market economic conditions, industry and regulatory development and trends, and competitors. Applies that knowledge to develop and implement operational strategies and make recommendations and influence peers and senior leaders
Liaises with Compliance, Risk and Legal teams on legal and regulatory considerations that impact Bank Credit Operations in accordance with federal and state regulations
Builds high-performing teams and secures support for the Bank Operations vision. Motivates and inspires leadership team (direct reports) composed of skilled professionals. Mentors and provides team members with training, coaching and development opportunities
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures
What you Have:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degreeMinimum Experience:
10 years of progressive bank operations experience developing strategies, managing major large-scale banking initiatives, implementing banking technology and delivering results within a highly regulated environment
6 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required
Extensive experience in sales management within a financial services industry with proven and successful operational goals
Expert in compliance of Federal Banking Laws and Regulations including but not limited to OCC Heightened Standards, Fair Lending laws, Community Reinvestment Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, and Consumer Protection Regulations UDAAP Fair Lending
Extensive experience in developing, communicating, and reinforcing, risk appetite and risk tolerance
Executive Level Business acumen in the areas of bank operations and technology Advanced knowledge of state and federal regulatory issues impacting the financial services industry
Direct experience working with federal and/or state regulators
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization
Knowledge of federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable guidance to include: OCC Heightened Standards, REG E, UDAAP/UDAP
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful track record in leading multiple diverse teams
Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment
Proven track record of successfully executing on multiple priorities
Prior strategic program management experience
Understanding of technology and the impact to the wider USAA Bank Deposit Operations
Prior experience successfully managing expenses, developing operational metrics, and developing strategies to optimize performance
Six sigma certification
What we offer:
Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $163,880 - $294,980
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
