The Executive Assistant to the Executive Editor is a role that embodies professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and collaboration. It's a highly responsible-and highly rewarding-supportive role; one that demands a skillful time management and strong organizational skills. Maintaining daily schedules, identifying and prioritizing critical activities, organizing meetings and special events across several calendars, crafting professional correspondence, and providing great customer service are just a few of the duties essential to this role. You'll do all of this while supporting the Executive Editor of the newsroom.

You are comfortable communicating at all levels of the organization, from high-level executives and executive assistants in other departments to external parties. Responsibilities:
Provide high-level administrative support by scheduling meetings, answering phones and emails, drafting correspondence, maintaining confidential files and reports, and arranging complex travel.Anticipate and initiate actions regarding Newsroom operations which will require learning about the organization's mission and culture.Manage a heavy volume of requests from internal and external clients by answering questions, resolving problems where possible and making appropriate referrals.Manage executive's calendar by scheduling meetings, reminding about upcoming appointments or reschedules, coordinating external appearances, booking travel, and preparing materials for meetings and events.Facilitate executive's travel to external appearances by researching information about the venue, weather, transportation to and from the venue, and scheduling meetings with critical parties.Use judgment and anticipate needs while interacting with and preparing meetings for high-profile guests.May assist in organizing Newsroom-wide events, such as the Pulitzer Prize event, Newsroom townhalls, offsites, as well as training and related events, by coordinating with other executive assistants, events vendors (catering, vendor booths, games, bands, etc.), and editors.May serve as a back-up for the Executive Assistant to the Publisher & CEO.
