Ensure temporary shelter, care, compassion, meals, and supervision are provided for up to six Washington State Foster Care youth (10-17 years) and emerging adults (18-20 years) in emergency placement situations for a maximum of 30 days while awaiting placement.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, or closely related field required or 5 years experience in the field.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Pass a Criminal Background CheckPass a DSHS Background CheckFree from communicable diseases as indicated by health screening for TBMinimum 21 years of ageMeet the Salvation Army driving eligibility requirementsCapable of auditory and visual oversight of children's behaviorAble to verbally interact with childrenEmotionally mature and stable in order to provide consistency, structure, and nurturingMinimum of two years of professional experience working with children requiredOne or more years of supervisory experience preferredOrganizational and interpersonal skillsESSENTIAL DUTIES:Supervise and coordinate childcare workers and shift supervisorsCoordinate special needs of individual childrenEnsure implementation of program structureEnsure the physical needs of the program are metWork with Manager of Human Resources to advertise and interview for vacant positionsScreen, interview, check references, initiate DSHS child abuse screenings for potential applicantsOrient new employees to agency's programs and procedures, and the specific position functionsConduct twice-monthly lead meetings and monthly staff meetingsAnnual reviews completed on each employeeSchedule employees per licensing rations and adult supervision standardsProvide back-up for staff to ensure staff coverageReview all employee's timecards, audit for errors, and sign the beginning of each weekServe as 24 hour on-call resource for supervisorsEnsure medical appointments are scheduled to meet all children's medical needsArrange transportation for children's appointments as neededMake arrangements to provide for the cultural needs of all childrenWork with the Homeless Education team to ensure children are enrolled and attending schoolIntervene with DSHS, counselors, therapists, teachers, and parents when necessaryWork directly with DSHS regarding placement and movement of childrenReport incident reports and suspected abuse/neglectOversee the scheduling of supervised visitations with parents as requested by DSHSRefer children for counseling, developmental, psychological, medical, and dental servicesOversee an activity program and calendarMonitor/review/revise/implement the point and level system procedureOversee operations under The Salvation Army's mission statement and ministry to childrenOversee contract and WAC complianceWork with DSHS Licensor, contract administrator and Health Dept for audits and compliance. Maintain supply inventory as necessarySubmit repair requests to maintenanceConduct monthly fire drills and report results in writingCoordinate the use of facility space for maximum utilization and safetyAssist in development/revisions of program and practicesReview/recommend/rev
