Position Summary
The ESG Specialist Associate will support a wide range of data gathering, analysis, disclosure preparation, and support for all aspects of South Jersey Industries’ ESG Program. This key team member will support the implementation of the Company’s ESG strategy, goals and KPI’s in partnership with the business. This position will also play a role in critical functions including extracting internal and external data for conversion into information that measures impact and supports decision making and oversight for the ESG Program. Essential Functions:
Collect, manage, and interpret data associated with relevant ESG metrics to track and understand ongoing performance and identify gaps and areas for improvement
Develop and update dashboards to be presented to stakeholders
Partner with stakeholders to complete and validate data when necessary
Track the company’s performance, relative to our industry and relevant global leaders
Support the development of the company’s ESG/Sustainability report annually to align with, ESG reporting frameworks
Assist in the materiality assessment process including ongoing updates to align with global best practice
Support and prioritize all reporting requests from third parties and external stakeholders
Provide support to other related areas and emerging projects
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Superb analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools , such as Microsoft Excel or other closely related technology, to support annual reporting, data analysis, and data interpretation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new technologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex ESG concepts to a variety of audiences
Ability to work individually and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, evolving environment
Excellent judgment, strong commitment to ethics and integrity, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Flexibility and willingness to assist in areas outside of the role’s defined scope as needed
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of ESG reporting standards, assessments, ratings and rankings (GRI, SASB, TCFD, GRESB, etc.)
Required Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Business, Economics, Sustainability, or a closely related field, with 0 years of relevant experience
Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree
Preferred Background:
Experience working directly in corporate ESG, sustainability or ESG consulting
