About this role
Your team
The Equity Trading team is part of BlackRock's Global Trading Group and is responsible for executing equity and equity derivatives orders on behalf of internal clients.
Your role and impact
This role will be based in San Francisco supporting multiple internal investment teams, including Institutional Index and iShares, Systematic Active Equities, and Transition Management.
As a trader, you will collaborate with BlackRock Strategists, Portfolio Managers, Researchers, and other stakeholders to formulate trade strategies. You will directly engage counterparties to execute orders applying a range of tools and tactics.
Your responsibilities
Seek to provide Best Execution across equity and equity derivatives products including futures, ETFs, swaps, and convertible bonds
Manage equity orders in a risk-controlled manner as a fiduciary
Monitor market activity in areas of specialization and provide feedback to portfolio managers and internal partner groups
Support investment teams with market color, information flow, and data analysis requests
Participate in day-to-day tasks in support of trading activities and liaise with trading operations
Proactively contribute to the investment process to reduce transaction costs and to identify outperformance opportunities
Work with internal eTrading and Trading Research groups to innovate systems, trading analytics, and coordinate implementation
You have
3-5 years of relevant equity or equity derivatives investment and/or trading experience
Strong understanding of liquidity and microstructure for equity markets
Demonstrated proficiency with trading technology across various trading systems/platforms (FlexTrader and BBG EMSX experience preferred)
Strong data analysis or financial coding skills (Python, R, SQL)
Analytical and creative approach to solving complex problems
Ability to articulate and translate data and ideas into audience appropriate communication
Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and approaches new challenges with a positive attitude
For California only the salary range for this position is $118,750 - $140,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
