JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provides technical and scientific expertise for programs in the areas of communicable disease, chronic disease and environmental epidemiology.
Designs, conducts and reports on the epidemiological study of diseases, collects and analyzes data and develops health education materials.
Manages and participates in investigations and surveys that have national and international impact.
Conducts program research and prepares operational and statistical reports.
May write publishable articles and papers.
Serves as a liaison to and works with other groups and organizations participating in related programs.
May travel internationally to supervise field operations.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
Plans and coordinates the advanced computational and statistical analysis of research projects providing technical expertise in novel and/or revised analytical methodologies and techniques. Plans the processing and analysis of research data obtained.
Designs analysis strategies to perform genomic, epigenomic, proteomic, metabolic, and multi-omic analyses of large population databases. Generates documentation related to analysis.
Develops and prepares research goals and/or research work to attain specific goals of various projects.
Assists in the development of proposals for new funding.
Evaluates research findings and assists in reporting of results to sponsoring agencies.Assists in preparation of progress reports for funding agencies.
Leads and co-authors research papers and manuscripts for publication, and collaborates in the development of posters and data presentations at conferences and workshops.
Participates in research collaborations on behalf of the Principal Investigator, and may supervise students and research associates to accomplish research goals.
Develops new ideas that promote current research and prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A doctoral degree in a field related to area of research or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
International travel required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive research experience in conducting genomic, epigenomic, metabolomic, or proteomics of complex diseases (e.g., cardiometabolic diseases and chronic infections) with strong track-record of publications.
Working knowledge and demonstrated ability in high-performance computing environment or cloud computing.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and oral and written communication.
R and/or SAS programming experience.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
