DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an Epidemiologist, you serve in a leadership role for the outbreak team within the HAIP/AS program, which may include, but is not limited to, supervision of Epidemiology Research Associates, Epidemiology Program Specialists, contracted employees including Infection Preventionists and Public Health Specialists, trainees and interns. Supervisory duties include completing performance evaluations, approving/disapproving leave, performing the discipline process, and making hiring decisions.
You also serve as the liaison for the HAIP/AS program to the DOH Tuberculosis program and the Bureau of Epidemiology Hepatis Coordinator. You provide subject matter expertise on blood borne pathogen transmission and Hepatitis transmission prevention in healthcare settings, and supervise activities of the Infection Preventionist dedicated to dialysis prevention and injection safety prevention programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week.Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.Telework: Under the current Administration, this position may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Possession of either a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in epidemiology, Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD), Osteopathy (DO), Dental Surgery/Medicine (DDS/DDM/DMD), or Veterinary Medicine (DVM); AND two years of professional experience investigating disease outbreaks, designing and conducting epidemiologic studies, or designing and maintaining a disease surveillance system; orPossession of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in a biological science such as biology, genetics, nursing or virology; AND either a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree or Master of Science (MS) degree in epidemiology; AND two years of professional experience investigating disease outbreaks, designing and conducting epidemiologic studies, or designing and maintaining a disease surveillance system.Other Requirements:is currently waived for this title.You must be able to perform essential job functions.How to Apply:Resumes, cover letters, and similar documents will not be reviewed, and the information contained therein will not be considered for the purposes of determining your eligibility for the position.
