Massachusetts was the first state in the nation to combine energy and environmental agencies under one Cabinet secretary. The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA) serves Commonwealth residents interested in outdoor recreational activities, clean energy solutions and those who work with animals and livestock. Equally, EOEEA works with energy consumers, power companies, clean energy providers and farmers to delicately balance the interaction with environmental protection laws and regulations while being a cornerstone for our economic prosperity.
The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs is looking to hire a Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff for the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.

The EEA Special Assistant is an entry-level position within the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. Candidate must be self-motivated, detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task, possess sound judgment and ability to handle sensitive and complex issues.
Duties:
Work with EEA Chief of Staff, the EEA executive leadership team, as well as other agencies and executive assistants within and outside the administration on the planning and execution of special projects and public events. This includes providing travel support and event staffing for the Secretary as required.
Manage, coordinate, and at times draft responses to inquiries and correspondences that EEA and the Secretary receive from constituents, advocacy groups, and legislators in a timely manner. This will often require outreach to and collaboration with the appropriate subject matter experts, external affairs coordinators, and/or legislative directors within the respective agency (or agencies). Inquires may be received via the general EEA email inbox, through general EEA postal mail, or from the Governor's Office of Constituency Services. Work in collaboration with EEA's Deputy Chief of Staff to ensure all responses are in line with EEA policy and public messaging.
Provide daily administrative support to the Secretary and EEA Chief of Staff as needed.
Provide support the Secretary's Executive Assistant in collecting materials and preparing the Secretary's daily briefing binder as required.
Support the Deputy Chief of Staff in curating materials for and producing the weekly EEA Chiefs of Staff report.
Responsible for receiving and distributing incoming mail to the appropriate recipients in a timely manner, including the monitoring of the general EEA email inbox.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, as well as Word and Excel to produce documents and reports.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Critical thinking skills to assist in staffing the Secretary
Qualifications
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) four (4) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in: business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
II. An Associate's degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
III. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
IV. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.
V. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
