Your Opportunity
You will perform a variety of tasks which may include data analysis, statistical analyses, management of large data sets, water quality modeling, project or task management, proposal development, field work, coordination of tasks and personnel, and mentoring junior staff. The projects assigned may have complex features that will require the application of mature knowledge and the ability to execute the project independently from conceptual stage to final deliverable. You will lead the technical components of a variety of water resource projects to ensure scientifically-sound solutions to complex water quality challenges while delivering high quality deliverables with efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead and support a variety of water resource related projects and scientific investigations on lakes, streams and watersheds
Work collaboratively between different offices and groups
Effectively manage and coordinate projects as a technical lead or project manager
Executes specific technical tasks or requirements for medium to large projects.
Write and deliver high quality reports, which may include: field reports; permit applications; compensation plans; sustainability/restoration plans; environmental impact assessments; watershed/lake management plans
Quality control of data analysis and reports and a commitment to technical excellence
Contribute to marketing materials and strategies, including proposals
Provide technical direction and mentoring to more junior staff
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Enthusiastic and goal-oriented team player with a positive attitude.
Strong working knowledge of limnology nutrient dynamics and water quality.
Knowledge of lake restoration and management techniques and strategies is a plus
Demonstrated experience with conceptual design of technical approaches for water quality data assessment.
Demonstrated experience with water quality modeling a plus.
Advanced skills in technical writing and communications to effectively exchange complex scientific information with clients, engineers and scientists, government regulators and agencies, and academia, as well as non-technical communication to the public.
Disciplined approach to project execution and technical excellence.
Ability to bring water resources assessment projects from conceptualization stage to final deliverable.
Ability to provide written and verbal direction on project delivery.
Shows leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performance.
Champions new ideas and initiatives and creates an environment that supports creativity and innovation.
Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships.
Drives collaborative efforts within the region and beyond to deliver consistent, high quality and appropriately scoped technical work.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
At least four years of experience successfully executing technical aspects of medium to complex projects.
Proficient in MS Office applications.
Proficient in environmental statistics.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in aquatic ecology, limnology, biology, environmental engineering or related environmental field is required. Master’s degree in similar fields preferred.
Minimum 5 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience. Previous consulting experience preferred.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
